  • Am I in the right parish to make an inquiry for a wireless mouse recommendation?

  • MX Master 3

    100%

  • Wow! Looks like a Star Wars fighter and such expensive! Undoubtedly a spectacularly nice thing though!

I should have clarified I was thinking more along the lines of non-ergonomic design (symmetrical), minimalist, on the smaller side and a bunch less expensive than that? I'm after something for my backpack which I'll be using for Revit drawing work.

Logitech Pebble M350 caught my eye as did Microsoft Arc (bit pricey for me to be honest).

  • Logitech Pebble M350

I have a Logitech M705 for my laptop bag...

  • That's what I've been using actually but I really fancy something a bit more aesthetically pleasing and cleanly designed if there was something recommended! I just find the ergonomic design really unappealing and figured there must be something out there that's clean and simple and nice to look at?

  • Other than the MS phaser, all of the slim line ones are going to be pretty similar from a comfort POV, so it's best to buy whatever Logitech matches your brief, as their quality tends to be good.

All they suffer from the same issue which can be quickly shown by resting your hand on a flat surface and seeing it's natural hieght.

  • I'm beginning to see that may be an issue with heavy usage alright, I might actually end up stumping up for the MX Master 3 if I can see that the additional buttons will be useful to me!

  • The MX Master is the answer to all mouse questions - you won't find a better one.

V3 is USB C, nicer materials than V2 and the additional buttons are great. On Mac, they make workstreams so much easier. You can even make the buttons do different things in different apps.

I've had the original MX, MX 2 & now the 3 - wouldn't have anything else.

  • At the budget end of the spectrum I use the wired version of this and like the comfort:

  • with you on this. I have the 2S and the thumb button gets used many many times a day to quickly take screen snips then paste into emails/chats/docs. gamechanger. also its super comfortable and the software is decent. I use the two buttons next to the thumbwheel mapped to ± screen brightness as I use that quite often as well. thumb wheel to switch desktops.

  • After a few YouTube reviews and a bit of intensive Googling I'm sold. Going to order an MX Master 3 and MX Keys, it's a bit odd that Logitech don't do them as a bundle as far as I can make out as it seems their top spec bundle is a different keyboard and mouse?

Anyway, looking forward to getting my hands on them and having a nice setup to work from!

    Thanks for the advice all!

  • MX Keys

Curious as to how you get on with it as I'm going back and forth on buying one - mainly due to trying to keep costs down right now.

Also looking at the Keychron K4 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard 96%
as it ticks a lot of my boxes (compact, wireless, numberpad, F keys).

But there are limited key options and don't really know which of the stock to choose.

The other -ives seem to be:

    • hieght requires a rest
    • no print screen button

  • Do you use Resolve / Fusion? I just downloaded it today, got any good learning resource tips?

  • Honestly, the manual is a solid start - something I never really used for Premiere/Avid/FCP over the years.

I'm trying to get us to a position where I can trim down the number of Adobe licenses we have running. Switched over to almost all editing on Resolve along with colour. A lot of audio is now done in Fairlight apart from stuff we take out of house and a few plugins that require Prem. I don't use Fusion a lot - more used to After Effects but I see some great results on Fusion so I'd like to learn - I try a few things from the JayAreTV YouTube channel. For colour stuff, Juan Melara is very good.

Probably the best resource if you've got the time and want something for free - BMD do some very solid tutorials (including some with certification):
    https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/uk/products/davinciresolve/training

forum.blackmagicdesign.com has some good contributors and questions tend to get resolved quickly and accurately for the most.

Similarly, the r/editors subredit has lots of Resolve specialists

There are a few paid courses but they're not cheap and will vary depending what you want to learn about in particular.

There's a very good colourist in Brighton we work with from time to time called Darren Mostyn who I think is some kind of BMD ambassador - he leads a lot of courses and has an iOS app which is relatively useful.

  • Excellent, thanks..

  • K6 arrived.

  • New keyboard day

  • Woah, thinkpad'y what is it?

  • That is cool!
I know that there is an official bluetooth thinkpad keyboard with red nipple, which is kind of tempting too.

  • eew

  • Tex Shinobi.
Saw the retro looks and couldn't help myself :)
They offer a Bluetooth add-on as part of the build, did go for it in the end. Went for Mx browns.
Arrived towards the end of work day,so only used it for about 30 mins. Really enjoying it and the red nipple :)

  • nice ! what switches?

  • blues naturally!

  • How it is? How is it?

My K6 arrived in London with Royal Mail on 1 April, that's right, over a month ago, they tried to deliver and I missed it, they wouldn't redeliver nor let me pick it up because there is never the something for you card. RM head office have asked for the local depot for actions 4 times, but even they couldn't get a response from their colleagues. I feel really really bad because it's not an urgent nor necessary item. I am not sure why other than they are really thin on the groud, but all our local posties and drivers are seen on my street most days...

Keychron has just sent a replacement end of last week so hopefully not long for me now... I have to say, keychron's comms have been top notch.
