  • This is a good example of how vaccine hesitancy spreads.

  • you are talking about taking away peoples choice

I’m not talking about taking away anyone’s choice. But if you prioritise your personal risk ahead of the much greater risk to the whole of society, then I have nothing but contempt for you.

you are trying to suggest I am selfish?

    Exactly this.

  • surely boths sides of an arguement is good? We don't get to see that in our media. Most people don't even know that the vaccines are still under trial. The gov would rather pay tiktokers to promote the vaccine than have transparency .

  • I think there's a huge problem with general understanding of how vaccines work (and I mean in general, not the underlying biochemistry).

Many people seem to think it somehow prevents the virus from getting into the body again as if it is some kind of Ready-Brek -esque 'glow' around the body.

c.f. "I don't understand it. I've had both vaccines but I still tested positive." etc

  • Have any of you had polio or small pox?

    EDIT: HPV vaccine anyone?

  • Of course the vaccines are still under trial. They're still under trial for pregnant women. They're still under trial for under 16s. They'll still under trial for all adults as they're still assessing the outcomes of the mass vaccination programmes.

The alternative seems to be to run a standard vaccination trial taking YEARS and hoping that the UK death toll from Covid wouldn't get past 500,000 on the way through.

The evidence so far, based on the 80 million or so doses given in the UK alone seems almost entirely positive.

It's got to be some massive conspiracy for the Governments and health organisations of pretty much THE ENTIRE WORLD to be in on it all.

  • How long has science been experimenting with mRNA method to deliver immunity?

    No idea about the AZ.

  • ow long has science been experimenting with mRNA method to deliver immunity?

According to wikipedia the idea first came up in the early 90s. Took until 2010/2011 for first research into use for human pandemics (US military research). First use in humans was for Covid last year.

  • So the mRNA immunity delivery technology is sound, it is not something new as such just new for human use when it was needed.

    Does that make sense?

  • I have no idea! But I assume it is sound because people much more intelligent and educated than myself tell me it is safe and that the benefits outweigh any possible negatives.

  • If you want to read up on MRNA tech I would advise setting your google search to before Covid only. It will help to remove bias.

  • YES.

What I am trying to say, with some of your words, is that the mRNA that more intelligent and educated people have researched this for a long time, and it was pier reviewed. The delivery method is sound.

Of course the vaccine benefits out weigh any negatives.

  • surely boths sides of an arguement is good?
Not perse. Some people willingly misquote facts / mislead. Perfectly fine to call out risks, that's how AZ blood clot risk got accepted.
The hard core anti vaxxers though / bill gates dropped covid types, maybe not?

I made a choice to take it based on risks the way I understand them, do I trust the Westminster government? Hah lol no, but they just paid for the vaccines, I do trust the scientists.

But there's also an emotional element... rather than waiting for a virus that is unpredictable I take an action myself (well 2 with AZ) and I know then I get 85% protection against getting badly ill with Covid. So to me that's a little bit of control and that's more emotional than rational.

  • do I trust the Westminster government? Hah lol no, but they just paid for the vaccines,

Wasn't AZ type vaccine research funded by public money for quite a few years before the pandemic? Let not forget that.

EDIT: Guardian article but DECADES of research https://www.theguardian.com/science/2021/apr/15/oxfordastrazeneca-covid-vaccine-research-was-97-publicly-funded

  • Wasn't the mRNA vaccine 'allegedly' going to cause DNA mutation? I wanted to become an Xman.

  • Don’t worry, there’s still time. The vaccines aren’t scheduled to begin unfolding our DNA until 2023.

  • I shouldn't worry you have had the vaccine so you will be safe. The vaccine hesitant will be wiped out in no time.

Fucking hell dude what's wrong with you?

  • Fiiiiiiinally!

  • would that increase my immunity? The equivalent of an early booster shot?

    Probably.

But surely they must check your NHS number so that wouldn't be possible anyway.

Tell them you are called Bob McBobface and were born on the 12th of Never 1900.

I wouldn't cheat the system like that.

  • I have seen on the socials that there are people 'collecting' the full set as if vaccinations are panini stickers. Madness.

You'll have antibodies now - let everyone else get theirs and hopefully we can start sending the excess to other countries.

  • I have seen on the socials that there are people 'collecting' the full set as if vaccinations are panini stickers.

    There are stickers, am in.

  • That trend from Nov-January…

  • both my parents and my brother are immunocompromised and their lives will be placed very much at risk by people who choose to remain "vaccine hesitant" - so fuck you. fuck you forever.

  • Friendliest forum on the internet

I prefer to point my ire at the cockwombles in power for the void they occupy where leadership should be leading to situations like this, vaccine uptake halving in under 30's due to freedom day making it seem like Covid is over
