I just don’t think my brain can comprehend the level of incompetence and the fact they are running the country.
That's fair enough, I struggle to comprehend it myself tbh...
The difference between the last few months and February/March is that nobody really knew what was going to happen. This time we've seen it once before and SAGE were very clear six weeks ago that a short, sharp lockdown sooner rather than later would save lives.
But they've dithered and prevaricated for six weeks and now we need a longer lockdown, which I reckon will end up needing to be longer than the four weeks announced today. I dread to think how many more people will have died as a result of that decision. Or lack of.

if this was a labour government we'd be hearing about the "government that cancelled christmas" for the next 30 years, a la the winter of discontent pish. as it is, the tories are the default boss so they can do what they want without anyone giving them too hard a time about it. love too live in this country

Never a rule. Not even official guidance. Just a brain fart from Michael Gove.

Too busy self imploding to make any real ground on this

So they told Scotland and Wales they couldn't afford to fund furlough for their lockdowns, told northern tier 3 mayors there was no money for furlough beyond 67% but now they are doing National 80% furlough? I don't understand why some of the UK feel like Westminster doesn't care about them

The sourdough does look more like bike frame material than food at the moment.
May try and resurrect it, what’s the worst that could happen, other than food poisoning...

• #17188
Ive resurrected one after 6 months before. I’m gonna have a go with mine tomorrow.

Just give it a few regular feeds. You'll be lockdown2: sourdough boogaloo, before you know it.

If it comes back, you could take an explicit backup: spread a thin layer on baking paper, dry on a radiator, flake off and break into a sandwich bag, seal & freeze. Reconstitute w/ water & whole rye flour or whatever you usually feed with. My off-site backups are in Kent and New Zealand—the latter had a test restore which went well.

This is amazing! I will definitely do that if successful.
I still need to start yoga, learning another language, learning to code, mediating daily and learning to paint from the first lockdown so this one will probably be quite hectic.

Will all of the adverts that have been put out recently like the soap advert saying to wash our hands as we start to return to seeing loved ones more and the nature valley one that says nature valley bars are meant to be enjoyed out and about now going to be pulled? Or adapted to fit the rules of the next month?

So hospitality and gym close but schools stay open?
The chief medical advisor for NI didn't think R can stay below 1 with both open. Hopefully it works out.
And one more month of 80% furlough for whole of the UK is welcome news.
Yet another U-turn by popular demand...

I think it'll be up there with Liverpool & Thatcher, or The Sun. People are angry.

I'm returning to the UK on Tuesday. We were due to self quantine at a family friends holiday place as its empty.
will this lock down mean we can't do that now? Has anyone done the boots test???
Perfect timing for me to return 🤪🙄 -

Your issue will probably be where do you plan to go after you have quarantined, as in theory you shouldn't be doing any non-essential travel or staying with any other households overnight until December at least.

We will be living with my mother in law after the 2 weeks and will be based there.
It's a quiet part of the UK.
Would the travel not be looked as essential as we are effectively homeless after that 2 weeks. 🤔.
Edit..
Job hunting in this clusterfuck is going to be fun
Exercise had no limit
