Nah, that would be matt olive drab, ral6003.

You know what I mean...

Yeah they'll paint the fork. But I can't afford that. And I'd prefer it plain black I think anyway.

I do, but nappy shit beige still looks excellent.

Told Spooky to press on with the nappy shat route. They're supplying it with a CK Rasta headset which would have been pretty nice with the original purple stock colour. But I reckon it'll still look cool clashing badly with the beige, like it wasn't intentionally intended to match, which it won't as it wasn't. Haha. Can't wait.
Without asking they've sent me this mock up. Not a fan of the larger downtube decals. Will ask them to stick to the smaller black decals as on the purple bike below. They've also asked if I want the fork painted. Think I'm sticking with the black fork though...

I quite like the large decals - but I can understand why you'd want the smaller ones, if that's what you had your heart set on from the beginning.

Like the original logo, nappy shit beige and black forks, stunning!

I think if I was still going "loud and proud" with the purple then I might have liked their newer mahoosive decals, but think the smaller one will suit the anti fashion subdued shat theme.

Seems we're like minded still. 👍

Second blast on the Sherpa today, this time at the local trail centre. Still really chuffed with it. B+ superb. Can't see the 29ers seeing much action.
Between dad taxi duties also managed a first spin on the Genesis. Fit is perfect, doesn't have the immediate kick of a top end carbon frame but holds it's speed well and will be perfect for all day rides and fast 1 hour blasts alike. Won't win any hill climbs, but I'm not entering any, so that's fine. Looking forward to adding some 28c tubeless rubber when Spring arrives. It's exactly what I hoped, which is good as it had big boots to fill as the replacement for the Demon, Serotta, Sven, Rose and Cinelli.
Obligatory first ride pic....

Great thread with an impressive quiver of bikes that you started with. Curious as to what the other BMXs were that you got rid of over the Stay Strong. Was this T1 one of them?
-
• #88
Thanks! One of the BMXs was an Amber Dorado. That was a park bike. Great fun, but weirdly at 45 I stopped hanging out at skate parks when my son stopped making me take him there to ride his scooter. So as it wasn't getting used anymore, it had to go in the ruthless cull. The other BMX was another Stay Strong/Dialled Bikes race bmx. It belonged to a mate of mine who moved to mid Wales and he neither had the space to store it, nor the track to ride it at, so he sold it to me as a "spare". Again, it had to go in the cull. Shame as they're brilliant bikes.
Here's the Amber....

Not seen those Amber bikes before. Love the idea behind the Dialled/Stay Stong bikes, but I can't get my head around the look of modern race bikes. It's a shame that they don't do a "throw back" race frame.

You have fantastic taste in bikes. Is the Spooky going to have discs?
-
• #91
Aah shucks. Thanks, I like them. Coz they ride nicely and give me nice experiences outdoors. :)
Yeah the latest gas mask from spooky has flat mount brakes. Need to decide what tyres to run on it as the 35c Schwalbe G Ones I had on the Victoire are quite worn (the rear at least) and this will take a 700x42c.

Got out for my first meaningful ride on the genesis this morning. Still really pleased with it. Tis dirty now...

So this appeared on Spooky's IG this morning...
I asked for the older style (smaller) DT logo but I assume this is mine as I can't imagine someone else has coincidently chosen nappy shat beige.
I like the DT logo actually. Which is good.

The colour is a nod to my first car. An 850cc Mini in the iconic 70's British Leyland "Harvest Gold".
Car shown not mine, but the right (awful) colour.

OK so those of you who have seen my thread in Misc & Meaningless will know the spooky isn't happening now.
I've been pondering hard about my options for a replacement. Whilst out on a particularly enjoyable xc blast on my Stanton this morning, I considered what it might be like to add a set of drop bars to the Sherpa. I had been considering a Mason Bokeh, then latterly the Mason ISO then thought that for significantly less money I could get a second stanton, buy another manitou Magnum fork (currently reduced further to £275 on CRC) and I'd still be £500 better off than the ISO.
But was concerned about the fit. So I lashed on my drop bars intended for the spooky and now I'm even more convinced. The fit is actually pretty good. Getting the tape measure out and doing some comparisons, I think a 60mm slammed stem will give me a perfect position. Obviously a little higher at the front than my roadie but I could interchange my 650x3.0 wheels/tyres and 29x2.25 wheels/tyres between bikes, and have enough spare change to buy a 3rd set of 700x42 cx wheels/tyres.
I'm struggling to see the downside. I'd have to ditch my 1x 42T quark Road cranks destined for the spooky for a mtb 1x 36T (or whatever the max chain ring is I could fit) but I could live with that.

Excellent. Maybe look at Ritchey Venturemax bars, think they'd fit nicely on that build. Sad to hear that there'll be no nappy shit beige Spooky.

Yes, brilliant plan. It’s what I wanted after my gravel drop bar mountain bike thing broke down, but opted for a more traditional and versatile combo due to lack in funds and space.

It arrived, had problems, is being sent back Monday. Can't wait for a replacement. Shame as it did look really nice. If not more green and less nappy shat that I would have liked.

Damn! That looks lovely!
Do you mind disclosing what the "problems" were?
You can never go wrong with purple, but the olive is very original indeed.
That RAL7008 is a bit too dirt-drop-tourer- in-the-desert-featured-on-the-Radavist for me...
Can you get the forks painted too?
