It looks rowdy - a term of endearment that's particularly popular on here right now
Keep up old boy

Cheers Michael.
So as soon as work was done I headed out for a quick spin in the woods. Having ridden my mtb so much recently it took a little mental adjustment to get into cx mode again but the more I rode it the more I loved it.
It's not as snappy as the Victoire in terms of acceleration but then that's probably a lot to do with 35c G Ones vs 2.25 mtb tyres as anything else. And I can switch to those wheels should I want/need to. Once up to speed it's unstoppable and it has mtb levels of grip and traction which overall made for a lot more fun. It basically rides like a cx bike that you don't have to baby quite so much on the techy terrain.
TL:DR it's fucking superb!

And so concludes my 14 => 6 reshuffle. Very happy. Will have to get a new groupshot the next nice day.

Are you on Android? Long-press to select multiple pictures.
What an excellent set of bikes you've got.

I am on android. Thanks. I'll try that next time. And thanks for the comment on the bikes. It's a greatly reduced selection and I do miss some if not all of the outgoing bikes, but on balance I'm really pleased with the small but perfectly formed selection I have now.

I honestly love it.
The manitou forks started playing up about 6 months ago so I sent them back to CRC for inspection and the whole thing turned into a fiasco. Long story short, they said they couldn't be repaired, but they wouldn't reimburse me or replace them as it was an obsolete model. And they didn't have an equivalent fork ie boost, 100mm, capable of taking a 3" tyre. After much wrangling I eventually got a credit and bought some Reba forks. But I'd been without it for nearly 4 months. And I missed it massively.
Got out for a first ride on it since the rebuild on Saturday. Its so bloody good, particularly in the 650x3.0 guise. But I really like the versatility of wanging a set of more xc friendly 29er wheels in it for longer stints.

Glad you're enjoying it. Sorry to hear about the issues with the forks. FWIW my experience with Fox/Silverfish has been excellent.
What passes for a longer stint? I'm wondering if it could take the place of a gravel bike running 29in semi-slicks and my BFe which I definitely don't use to its full potential.

I have a Sherpa. Love it for both longer all day rides with fast rolling tyres and bigger tyres for more technical stuff. Had a few steel 29er hardtails down the years and the Sherpa is the pick of the bunch.

TBH I think it would be an ideal candidate to replace those 2 bikes. Even without the 2 sets of wheels it would do you proud.
Longer stints? I did SDW on it in a day and used the 29er wheels then, but TBH I think the B+ wheels would have been fine too. I tend to find the 29er wheels come out if I've got a lot of road to link up the off road bits.

Sounds like we're on the same page.

Totally! Its a brilliant frame. Similar riding as well. I really like the more modern geometry for shorter travel. Makes the bike so much more capable than it should be. Used mine for long distance stuff like SDW, bikepacking and for shorter blasts around Swinley. The only minor negative is only one bottle cage. I bought a Broken Road for bikepacking as very similar geometry and tbh the ride and weight are very similar.

Thanks both, sounds very promising.

I'd recommend one. Here's mine in its latest incarnation.
@velosaurus it's perfect for swinley too eh?!

Whilst I'd buy another in a heartbeat, I'd also be very tempted by this as an alternative...

Looks ace rolling on the B+ wheels. Stanton are just down the road from me which adds to the appeal.

Yes, ideal for Swinley. There is a bit more compliance than other steel frames which helps on the ginger. Thats a really nice build. I would like to try mine with 27.5 plus wheels at some point. Mine is currently set up rigid, high bars and front rack (natch) for local utility bike stuff. Suss forks currently on BR.
@Po if just down the road, well worth a visit. Lifetime warranty on the new frames as well.

I've had Switch 9er lust for some time now.
The Slackline I had was excellent.
A massive rowdy handsome thing. I'll take that @furious_tiles @vp1337 and @Howard
Saddle height correctly adjusted, black saddle fitted, a few minor tweaks and we're ready for a maiden voyage.
