Well done Clive. I'm bathing baby and putting her to bed so can't make it along, but thinking of you enjoying a pleasant summer evening in lmnh.
Looks like a nice day for a ride tomorrow! It's a great feeling to say you are going to do something that's a bit difficult that you've never done before, and to do it. So enjoy the endorphin rush and start convincing yourself that you enjoyed every bit of it!

Lovely work Clive!

I guess he is a little hungover to give the final write up .

I very much doubt it. I hope he is enjoying a lie in.

No, he's probably half way to Cambridge on auto pilot.
well done Clive. Absolutely excellent stuff. Shame I couldn't get to lmnh to buy you a beer and hear more about the riding. Had boring transport problems getting back from a ride. If only everything was as reliable as the bike.

He's sleeping off all that green tea and fizzy water from last night. If you ever want to see a man overindulge, watch Clive drink green tea.
-
• #263
Wait, he's been dot-watching. :)

You squirrel murdering bastard, Clive.

I've really enjoyed the blogs. This last one is quite emotional, what a journey.
I particularly liked the part about winning the frown on the condescending road sign.
I hope you have a great rest today.

Triggering speed monitoring signs is old forum sport, especially on the run-in to Brighton. (Then again, I'm sure just about every bike rider does it.)

Thanks Tom. Not sure I will manage a recovery ride although I perhaps ought. Can't quite get out of bed and the prospect of another day in Lycra does not appeal.

Well done! Amazing effort and great blogging too :)

Wonderful to renew our acquaintance in such laudable circumstances. It takes something special to stick to such a harrowing task. Respect to you my friend. Mel.

Thank you everyone on here who through your encouragement and support - sometimes very tangible - got me through this and allowed me to achieve something I probably should never even have thought of doing.

The difficulty I now face is to withstand the gnawing hunger pangs and to refuse to replace the calories burned. I then need to diet until such time as I reach the weight that I should have been at when I started the ride.
Why refuse to replace? I thought that if you don't eat enough, you just recover more slowly? (Experts please.) Plus a regular ride every week so these aren't a flash in the pan?
Well done @WornCleat!
