Those with a small single ring will look boss. Just sand back the lacquer, save a few grams and it'll look pro af

• #81
Phew!
This is gonna be so dope!

Might have to take it to an actual shop though. Don't have any of the spacers and I can't find a place to buy them online or even if they're specialized specific or just "standard BB30 spacers"...
-
• #83
Did the frame come with bearings? Do you have the bearing shields? The easiest way to do it would be to buy a BB30 bearing assembly like this one which gives you the bearings shields and wave washer - most shops will then have the shims kicking around.

Ah nice, thanks for the help. I thought they were chainset specific - I'm sure the good people of Hub Velo will have a set. The frame has bearings installed already.

I thought they were chainset specific
Specialized do have some chainset specific spacers...
S091600007 - CRK SBC RD RIGHT BRG SPACER ALLOY (DR)
S121000001 - CRK MY12 SBC ADJUSTMENT/SPACER WASHER KIT
But I'd try it with a couple of plain 'ol bearing shields and a wavy washer on the non drive side first. It worked for me :)

may i ask a very daft question, unless i did it wrong (and i prob. did) when i installed bb30 crankys i didnt seem to need spacers or wavey washers - what are these for - iz it cos youz gonna go singlez up front like?
-
• #87
what are these for
They are required to remove side to side play in certain designs of crank. Not all 30mm axle cranks need them, some have collars that move up and down a thread on the non drive side that do the same thing.

How on earth are those wheels under 900g complete?
Seriously, how does it break down in approximate terms? I was vaguely aware you could get wheels down to about 1kg, but not including tyres or cassette, which are surely at least 450g together?

Pro tip: use Helium instead of air

Both rims are below 160g. 28g front hub, <100g rear. 15g of nipple, 97g of Ti spokes. 110g Tufo tubs. 78g casette.
Obviously awful to ride but that's not really the point. Bike is 3.2kg

Bike is 3.2kg
that's insane. My cat weighs more.

And here I thought the Canyon Evo SL was light benchmark:

Could be seriously light with a non off the peg build I reckon but 5kg isn't near record breaking
-
• #94
It's the benchmark in that it's an OTP <5kg bike that you could actually ride on a daily basis without it exploding, but it's a long way from true WW.

Remember who you're talking to here...

Is it me or is that great ££ to grams ratio?

Crack4lyf

• #99
what about the ££ to gram tho
-

£ to Like ratio
Perfect, that's 80g less and supposedly a lot stiffer. Can you make them look less like they've been crafted from carbon fibre balloons?
