• I'll keep an eye out. If I find an Ergon for under a hundred on ebay or something, I'll probably go for it. Weight limit not a problem :)

  • Original VCLS is what I'd buy if I had mad seatpost buying cash

  • Well not for you or me, no. You should see @dick’s MCFK post. Even I wouldn’t want to ride it 😰

  • I'm confused by the bikeradar data -- both canyon vcls flex loads but the ritchey dampens vibrations better than the regular vcls (not split design)....I thought both would go hand in hand?

  • Apparently not. I think it's got something to do with carbon layup but that's purely speculation. Bikeradar's testing could also be off. Who knows?

Anyway I got an S-Works post for my Pinnacle and it's lush. Fully carboned out now.

  • Been thinking about stable adjustments for the coming year. Need a cross bike, which will almost certainly be a Specialized Crux running SRAM hydro 1X

More importantly, I've scratched the itch for a NJS track frame and I'm just not really about that life. Thinking about getting a custom track bike made up. Huge tubes (Columbus Life mega or similar), integrated seatpost, 44mm headtube. CK headset, Columbus carbon road forks. Rotor cranks with Zipp 30 disc rims to maybe LF Phil hubs? Super fucking burly and unpleasant. Then risers and ESI grips for fucking about and Zipp aero drops for track.

    a) anyone want to buy my Peloton?
    b) how on earth am I going to achieve my track bike vision

  • Sounds like a critbike

  • Sounds shit.

  • I think I would like look of that kind of track build

  • don't you have an audax to do or something?

an yeah it will be a bit critbiek but I've enjoyed my critbike builds more than this current thing.

  • What size is your peleton?

  • 52.5 X 53.5 from memory, fits like a 52 thanks to the sharp seat tube angle.

  • DT: Columbus Life OS Mega Aero 42mm
    TT: Columbus Life OS 31.7mm
    ST: Columbus Life HSS 31.8mm
CS: Columbus Zona Mega Short Taper 22mm
    SS: Columbus Zona 16mm
    Headtube: Life HSS 44mm
    BB: Dunno, whatever, threaded BSA
    Dropouts: Bear Frame Supplies

Track bike thinking is coming on fast

  • P0rn tubing choices, but use Max chainstays instead of zona. My favourite part of the max tubeset tbh

  • Yeah, max chainstays lairy af. Whose building?

  • Basically a fixed hybrid.

  • Unlikely to go Max, doesn't float my boat, but could go Life short taper for max fatness.

@edscoble that's basically what this forum is about, yes.

  • Probably Mercredi because Ads is a good friend and understands my need for gnar

  • DT gotta be HSS

  • A) I don't like biovalised tubes
    B) if I wanted LFGSS to design my bike for me I would have asked

EDIT god that sounded harsh! sorry amey, you imput is valued.
Tell you what - tell me what brake I should put on this*

*may or may not be joking

  • direct mount 9100

  • Mercredi

    Just perfect.

  • compromise - regular 9100

paint inspo thus far is anodised / oil spill heat treat effect fade

  • your imput is valued
