What about a Mr Fusion: https://www.porcelainrocket.com/collections/store/products/mr-fusion-v2
Apparently eliminates swing completely and will be lighter than proper rack + pack.

Isnt that essentially this?
But with a bag that if you put anything in bottom is a ball ache to get out?
-

With added artisan hipster bikepacking points tho.

more artisan than waxed canvas!?

I reckon the Carradice Bagman is the best compromise out of every rear-luggage system I've tried. No disconcerting movement with any bag I've used on it, great attachment mechanism, one bolt to remove.

Same. I've got a low profile one now which is ok for day trips but doesn't have height capacity. Tempted to make a simple roll-top one from X-Pac.

Guys. If you were going to drop 5-10k on a bike:
Why the fuck would you put something as fucking ugly as a carradice on it? Or any of the other fucking suggestions?Rack and mounts and panniers seems sensible.

I agree with this. Having subtle rack mounts is good for future deviations from current set up, but putting a god awful carradice on this machine would be sacrilege! Isn't your equally fancy Mather meant for that!?!
And re: mudguards. I also have the Enve GRD fork with detachable mudguard on my Talbot Gnarmac, being able to take it on and off so easy is handy, and the hidden mounting system is great, buts it's not really very effective at keeping your feet dry. It keeps the spray at bay, but you will get wet in heavy rain. I think it's more aimed at protecting the frame from stone chips and gravel damage when riding off road.
I also had the quandary of what to do about a single rear guard that wouldnt look mis matched... I opted for one of the carbon ones that Adrian at Swarf cycles makes himself in house. He will sell you a rear only if you ask him nicely. Black ano fittings are available too. A bit spendy, but I'm guessing that's not an issue on this build.
They come in a glossy waxed 3k weave finish, but I painted mine to match the Enve. Black on the front half with a fade to bare carbon towards the rear, with a coat of matt lacquer on top to tie it in with the Enve one. (as seen here )
For me the main reason for going through the hassle of getting two different guards and making them match was that the Enve fork was the only fork available at the time that looked good, and had flat mount and thru axle. When I went to saddleback to pick up the fork I saw one in the flesh for the first time on a Cielo demo bike, and was impressed with how subtly it sits on the bike... this then gave me a secondary goal of getting the guards to be as invisible as possible when fitted to keep the clean look of the bike. Matt machined some custom spacers to get the rear guard to sit perfectly in line with the edge of the gum wall on the tyre so it blends in with the rear end perfectly.
if you opted to go down the Swarf route I'd be happy to paint it to match front for you if you're fussy about these things like me.

Or do what Rob English did and just get two more of the enve front guards and spend ages blending them together to make the worlds most expensive rear mudguard....

Those Swarf mudguards look great, but may not work for me.
I've got the clearances to match the Enve GRD fork, which is 38mm without fender and 35mm with fender.
Did you go for the 40mm Swarf? Does it fit a 35mm tyre?
It also begs a question to which I won't know the answer until Monday. I asked for the rack mounts, and I see those... but I didn't specify a bridge on the rear stays and with a disc bike it's not obvious to me that there must be a bridge, but it might be alien without it. The photo I have (the one posted) doesn't really make it clear that it is there, and if it is (I kinda assume it is) I don't know whether it has a bolt hole for attaching a mudguard there.
I had only quickly looked, but imagined I would treat the mudguard as a consumable and just go for something standard and easily replaceable that worked for the wide tyres and didn't detract too much from the aesthetics of the bike.
Contenders were:
- http://www.sks-germany.com/en/products/longboard-black/ (removing the spoiler at the end - and trimming the struts to be more tidy)
Then again... I'd not seen the Swarf's and the fenders, like the rack, were something I was cool about deferring until later. Just needed to make sure that the frame had all the fittings to support them.

I seem to have missed 30 pages of this. Have you just sacked it all off and bought a Kinesis yet?

1st one shit because single stays, 2nd one amazing
I had to bin a single stay SKS in the past and the bike had a solid mudguard bridge.
-
• #865
I'll wager good money there is a bridge with a mudguard mount. There is no way a builder like Seven would miss a detail like that.

I have a pink bike... collecting on Monday. I've edited the first post to put it there.
Some small changes still coming:
- Junction box will be moved to the right-side bar-end.
- Need pedals
- Yellow stickers to be removed from wheels
- Position dial-in
- Add Enve GRD front fender
- Shop for a rack
- Shop for a pair of bottle cages
- Commission a bag for the rear or just strap a stuff sack to the rack
- Junction box will be moved to the right-side bar-end.

1st one shit because single stays, 2nd one amazing
Yeah, but the first one is over 100g lighter.
This bike is silly light... would be shame to totally blow it on the accessories.

Look at the photo closely and you can see there is a bridge in the rear seat stays

PDW? Velo Orange?
I'd get Swarf if they can fit.
-
• #870
Maybe the Poncho... maybe...
But none of the Velo Orange would work... they're too ugly ;)

Reminds me of the 24 porn bikes.

VO has single stay at the back that bends around the shape of the guard .. looks neater IMO, Swarf look like a carbon version of VO. Those PDW are great too. The guard material itself shouldnt be flexy to get away with single stay IMO.

Yeah, I have the 40mm guard. I have run it with 33mm challenge gravel tyres, and there is room under them. Bike normally has 30c Strade Bianche tyres on when the guards at fitted tho.
I'm of the opinion that any tyres I'll want to use over 33, will be knobblies or semi-knobbly riding for riding off road - the type of terain where you don't want the guards on the bike anyway, as they will just clog up with shit and probably break.
My parrafin lantern works fine thanks.
