Oh ps this bike (frame) is still the best thing I've ever bought.
-
• #378
hope all is well with you, glad you are enjoying the bike, it is lovely

I had pro ones before but have switched to formula rbcc tubeless and they're a revelation. Would recommend rather than pro ones; better grip but still really quick rolling

G-One Speed are amazing tyres, a lots slicker than they look.
-
• #381
I have both, S-Ones in my winter a Pro ones in my summer. For summer riding in proper European tarmac I'd go for pro ones, save the S-Ones for more challenging conditions
-
• #382
Yes, I know. I have ridden them exclusively for the last year.
-

Point being, stick to it, like you'd stick to GP4000sII on a road bike cause it's hard to go better.

I've been thinking about them in 30c for my Soma. I won't have any trouble wiht the 45mm PDW guards. (JB they're what you have on right?)
32c RiBMo are too tall for the front guard and rub on the bolts for the brake bridge mount. rounder 32c tyres like the Pasela's should be fine though. as well I'm getting wider rims so that should bring the profile down a bit.

Yeah, loads of space and so so good.

Summer mode installed. New Hope 20Five wheels, G-One Speeds, R8000 rotors, R8000 30 tooth cassette, put an inline on it for the first time (remembered the fit was designed around an inline, duh) and yeah... very happy. Substantially lighter without guards, lighting and heavy wheels. Love this bike so much. Flawless. Fork looks a bit gappy from the front due to the higher A-C but whatevs.

New Hope 20Five wheels
Why? Because no dynamo?
lighting
You didnt have a rear dynamo light?
Seems ideal what you have done, just wondering.
Also bidon ID? -

Wow, looks great!
There's not to many bikes I covet but this is one! Also bidon ID?
This!

This is a great bike! How much does it weigh in summer mode?
-
• #391
Drainpipe looks like the longest aero bars, ever.

@amey I only have one bike, Dynamo and guards not needed for the Dolomites in three weeks. Lights were both mudguard mounted. Mudguards gone. Lights gone.
@7ven thanks! Certainly very happy with it. Got the bidons from Golden Saddle when I was in LA, long sold out I believe.
@Thrasher have no idea :-) light enough for me! Especially compared to how it was in winter mode! Maybe 9 kilos now? But yeah no idea. Have never tried to make it light with that said.

Ps, I got the wheels because Evans now accept cycle scheme voucher for components, so all the stuff I got was paid for by the voucher.

Mudguards gone. Lights gone.
Was taking them off (and installing in future) easy?
-
• #395
Nope. I had to severe the cable. But I’ll be installing Dynasnaps to reconnect when I need to use them again. The cable run through the frame is permanent so for now, I’ve covered it in electrical tape and taped it to the chain stay.
Removing the guards themselves was a two minute job.

Nice bickyckle! Solid black parts and bright frame never fails :) do you think 30 is enough to get you up the Dolomites or will you switch before you leave?
When you said your bike was "also pretty heavy", clearly you weren't envisaging my 10-15kg beastie!
-
• #397
Nope. I had severe the cable.
No banana clip?
-
• #398
No, it was one continuous cable run from front light to rear.
@frankenbike - yes should be okay. Most people I’m riding with are taking a 28. I had a 32 the last time I went to the mountains but that was for a Cent Cols Challenge which was just a whole other level of hard work.

Cent Cols Challenge
Dear lord, I usually like the sound of those masochistic challenges but I think I'd get almost 0 enjoyment from that! I'm sure the scenery was worth it though

I have dreams about it on a regular basis two years later. It’s not possible to put into words how incredible it was. Northern Alps. 10/10.
Mmmm yeah probs. 28c pro ones are much cheaper than G-One's too IIRC...
