@samuli race cap 84 on the 'frankenbike' is doing great, coming up on CP1. Paul Galea taking a different route through the mountains and Michael Wacker had 10hrs sleep so he should be well rested to eat up some more miles.

Paul Galea on avery different route to the few in front of him. Tactical or just wants to hit Liechtenstein for maximum country count!

He had a nice tour of the lake earlier too.

Any projectionists in here? Since everyone split North/South to Cp1, any predictions on whether there's gonna be a split to CP2 or are we looking at a bottle neck through Bozen?
Paul Galea seems to be taking a flatter route, but not sure where the advantage is? Distance vs elevation?

Predicting they're all going to take the Brenner pass from Innsbruck. It's probably the 'flattest' route across the alps

Interesting. It does look like there's a few people possibly following Galea though. Down to where though, Milan? The alternative routes to cut across to Grappa from the route (13) he's heading just looks messy.

I'm not too sure about his route. The Brenner pass is relative steady climb topping out 1300 metres followed by a super long descent all the way to the Po Valley.

Melissa Pritchards' blog. She was first woman to CP1, American living in Switzerland who has been training a bit with Jonas Goy, who was 2nd to CP1. He stopped for 10 hours so should be back towards the front by tonight.

I think it means not recently updated, for whatever reason. Doesn't mean scratched b/c the scratched list is only 7 riders

Speaking of gears, is that 36t getting much use yet?

Slower than last year. My route all the way from start to cp1 could be used as a warning example of slow route. But I could recommend it for touring, some nice places.

While that Bjorn chap is an entire mountain pass ahead. He's only stopped for 5 hours in total, so surely he cannot keep this up?

James has caught Geoffroy by the looks of it, in Innsbruck, or maybe they're both resting there.

As he's crossed the Brenner pass, he now apparently has a long downhill ahead of him?

He might rest at CP2?
