  • 5th day in Jackson and FedEx won’t be delivering today either. Still in Tennessee. ETA updated to 16:30 tomorrow. I’m bored of watching that dot now.

  • Sending u good karma - but can't send u bike.

  • Yes I can understand. Life isn’t easy or fair. I feel for you. Sorry.

  • Small donation made.
    Keep up the good work!
Well more get back to the good work but you get my point

  • Appreciate that. Hoping to give everybody a show when I do eventually get moving and generate lots of attention for the fund raising.

  • No pressure what you are doing is already great, the money you have raised will go to good use.

  • Wind swing!!!! 16kph to 30kph

  • SH had his knee taped and had physio booked in Newton

  • Book me into one of them there massage parlours

  • At some point later Hippy will reach Newton Bike shop where they sometimes have a live feed of the riders or do youtube videos of them pit-stopping...

  • I’m sure everybody’s bored of stories from Jackson by now, so I’ll keep it brief. FedEx advised the bike is delayed further and is now expected late tomorrow. The guys paid £400 to get it here next day (on Monday) and even dropped it to the depot in Birmingham after the FedEx truck broke down en route to collect it. Perhaps worth avoiding FedEx if you ever need anything quickly.

  • That totally sucks.

    Really sorry to hear it.

  • I do hope they will be claiming all that back . What a complete balls up, i really feel for you. Well sympathise is probable better. 😕

  • There's a good @hippy / live feed joke to be made...

  • Midfoot mongrel.

  • Eurgh.. fingers crossed.

Update from Tom Hughes on fb:

John was struck by a car. He is with trauma surgeons now in Wichita. Multiple broken bones, lacerations, collapsed lung. He is strong, he will be fine but is facing a long recovery.
He was just a few minutes away from my hotel room, on his way to hang out in the a/c for a bit. :( pretty devastated about this. It happened only 20 miles from Eric's memorial spot.

  • Christ that sounds rough. Fingers crossed he makes a good recovery.

  • Second rider struck from behind in the last 24 hours. Ash Sharp somehow got away without major injury after being hit and dragged by another vehicle. Not sure I’m looking forward to Kansas now.

  • Nasty

  • That sucks, he's scratched, too. He was well up in the race.

The tracking seems to indicate that his crash happened at or near the junction of a road numbered 7 (I don't know at what level of the hierarchy it is) W590th (!) Ave, and Gooding Road, south of Girard.

Amazing that the road numbering indicates how future potentially urbanised gridded streets will be completed in that area.

Hope John Egbers comes out of it all right.

  • hippy's making good progress by the looks of it and is very close behind Stephen Haines and Ryan Flinn again. Let's see if he can catch them.
