There’s some precision at work there
You sure it counts as a bodge ;) -

nice! might be worth taking a file to those corners and sharpening them up a bit / welding on some spikes maybe?

• #2532
that's a clever mod

Thought you were talking about the chain tensioner for a second…

Making a SRAM GX derailleur compatible with my Rival shifters.
Very neat, looks like dentist tools in the first pic

Dental picks are surprisingly useful in bike maintenance. I often find myself reaching for one of the various styles I have for one reason or another.

Perfect for getting O rings out without Damaging them.
-

I always assumed o rings were a single use item, the way they just seem to phase in to another dimension with no hope of retrieval as soon as you ping them free.

Turning proprietary fenders into a universal application. Headset spacer, zip ties and cutting can do it.

I love this and will eventually use it on mine, thanks for the great tips. I'd never have thought about sugru for a saddle

I wanted a front rack but the ones I like are too pricey. I had this very old steel rear rack, donated years ago by an old neighbor, who would pick up old bike stuff from skips/bins and give it to me knowing I'd make use of it sooner or later (RIP Peter!).
Before butchering the rack I made sure it wouldn't fit on the rear first, but I think it was originally intended for bikes with smaller than 700c wheels.
I re-proposed a crap mild steel spanner (the ones that come with Ikea furniture), a bit of cutting and drilling...
Then, to the best of my (very limited) abilities at brazing, I attached the spanner to the rack, and cut the struts. Hop! I now have a front rack, or, officially speaking, a fear rack. I'll be checking that brazing on regular basis to save on dentist bills... (though it feels strong enough and I don't plan to carry heavy stuff.

Is your bell clipped on to the gear cable? Could you give us a close up if so?
Also, nice rack (oh, err etc)?
-
• #2546
Yes, bought it years ago, been on my folder and couple bike as a quick solution. It's designed to be installed like this... so kinda flimsy by design, it's not very practical, nor loud, despite being well made and almost entirely out of metal...

This is my fav, Crane Riten. I find a lot of tones from bells are too piercing for my ears, this one has a pleasant brrring brrring sound.

Top level bodging to fit the rack.
If you ever paint it, I'd suggest a pale blue to match the headbadge. -
