  • Paging @dangeek for canticunt stickers

  • For those who evangelise cuntilevers?

  • A chopped supermarket basket worked well as substitute for a fancy Wald

  • Looks great - what did you do to neaten it up after you snipped it down?

  • Looks very pro!
All snipped at to the same length and then rolled over the horizontal bar? Very slick! I may have to take a trip to stainsbury’s myself.

  • I would love to see this. A roller is the kind of thing you have in your house, somewhere. It'd turn up once you started looking for it. Go on @AlexD. Canticunts unite

  • I’m going to pinch the first unattended basket I see

  • Cut the vertical wires with some excess and roll over. It's surprisingly sturdy. You could Dremel the ends of you wanted to be super neat.

  • I thought I used to see them discarded everywhere, the minute I started looking I didn't find one and ended up buying a wald. Reverse baader-meinhoff

  • yeah used to see a fair few knocking about. a lot of the supermarkets seem to have swapped to crappy plastic ones now

  • Would this work for your bodge, instead of pivoting on the seatclamp bolt, use a bolt through the rack mount. It's only about 30mm long from the pivot point

  • I don’t think it would work through the rack mounts - i think it would still mean the straddle cable would be way too low. I do wonder if it would work on the seat clamp bolt though - it might clear the end of the top tube - at the moment the surly one I have doesn’t.

I’m very close to giving up on all of this and buying mini-Vs though. My main gripe with them is aesthetics and tyre clearance. I don’t want to use full Vs as I might want to put drops on this at some point (plus my flat bar levers are canti/road pull).

  • Cane Creek Direct Curve 3 v-brakes might be better.

  • We're coming on for the third page of this canti saga.. i used to like this thread!

  • Yeah, I feel like I’ve single-handedly killed this thread - sorry everyone!

I don’t think I’m even going to resolve it, so it’s all been for nothing too 😁

  • Just been through all this myself, ended up with TRP CX 9, and they just work betterer. Still trying to finesse enough clearance for mudguards now

  • Is that a bodge? They've gone to all the trouble of brazing tabs in the correct place to attach a bit of chainring to brace for the disc brake when they could've easily just stuck a canti in there.

  • I’ve gone with some 90mm mini-Vs as well. Should be fine with the 40mm tyres in there at the moment, but was hoping to be able to go larger. We’ll see.

  • I think the repurposing of the chainring makes it a bodge albeit a very well executed one (that requires skill and specialist tools) that is functional and pleasing to look at : ).

easily just stuck a canti in there

Maybe we’re seeing a bit of canti brake backlash in action..

  • I guess if they'd run out of steel tubes that could be cut to length it's a bodge, otherwise I think it's just making something.

  • Quite fun either way TBH.
