Rule 1: Use brita filter to fill up, never from the tap.
Rule 2: When the limescale gets bad -> boil up water + half cup of distilled vinegar.
Just bought this boiling bastard. It heats water, very impressed.

For descaling I just empty a packet of citric acid in there and leave it for an hour.

I have found all my descaling needs have been met by moving to Amsterdam

No limescale issues in south east Queensland, I bought this a couple of months ago, love it... Had less luck with my Dualit Vario toaster, it died after three weeks... Bought from Selfridges, put an Aussie plug on it, instantly voided the warranty...

I had a Bosch, it leaked from the base. All of our other Bosch appliances are great, that kettle at least wasn't built to the same standard. Maybe yours is better.
I now have a Dualit which I'm very happy with so far. Pro tip: you can remove the coloured panels and get them powder coated, so now my kettle matches my coffee machine and my Cafe Grumpy mug.

So what's the go to at the moment? budget around 50 quid. Even better if it's on the AO ebay outlet as there's 10% off.

Best thing for descaling a kettle with a ferrous deposit? We had rusty pipes, y'see, pipes all replaced now but there's still a little residue at the bottom of my lovely see-through kettle...
No tile pics this time...

Is this the tile meme thread?

Had a plastic kettle from Tesco that was, well, just a kettle, I suppose. Then about a year after we bought it we noticed that what we thought was limescale roughening up the inside was, for the most part, the plastic degrading! Ten minutes later we were in Tescos again and chose a stainless steel one - the cheapest at £7 or so. It's great. Limescale collects on the metal and we just put de-scaler in every now and again.
