Netherlands is a bit low too, but I think they made lots of cuts to prevent pension / healthcare issues in later years (take note UK...) which has depressed growth for now.

Juncker really is a smug prick- "we are ready to start tomorrow" - dude we have just had an election result that could significantly soften the Brexit negotiations/deal for all involved.
Get in the sea.

That's not his problem though is it? May triggered Article 50, which has a very clear two year timeframe, then chose to call a completely unnecessary election. The clock is still running and May has just wasted two months.

The UK caused their own misery as far as the EU is concerned.
And they did. But a no deal endangers all EU nationals here as well, so hopefully the EU will tone it down a little.

Issues with May, the Conservatives and how they have handled things- fine. I think it shows complete disregard for the people of the UK.

Whatever the EU's regard for the people of the UK, it's regard for the people of its member states must surely take priority.
It's a little unreasonable to suggest that the EU now take responsibility for the fuckups by the UK government, and offer them a do-over.
I believe article 50 has a "no backsies" clause.

EU nurse applicants drop by 96% since Brexit vote

Fucking hell - that's appalling.

Assume the Brexit department has been ploughing money into nursing schools to counter this.
No?

It seems this whole UKIP "good immigrant VS bad immigrant" and "it's all the fault of globalization" narrative forgets that the good immigrants have options, EU nationals don't know what's what, so they probably don't recommend the UK to their mates atm and that isolating yourself comes at a high price if you have severe skill shortages.
You can't just "turn around" those shortages. Combined with an unwillingness to pay more tax and wealth going towards the top and you have a recipe for disasters.
Voters are warned, they don't want to know. Politicians don't want to admit it, cos voters don't want to know (Labour is still in full denial mode, only LibDems/Greens etc seem to back the Single Market which comes with FOM and rights for people...) so it's going round and round in circles...

Who is suggesting this? I was calling out what was an inflammatory comment by Juncker.

And more of the skill gap issue... but non-EU nationals have to pay for visas, pay for the NHS, do not have EU treaty rights and all that. And earn a lot of money.
Seems handy for the government...

That graph just tells us that the remaining member states need us faaar more than we need them. Hard brexit all the way, I say.
