Fail to plan, plan to fail in action.

why should she resign now...this was parliaments failure tonight, not hers.
the options have narrowed though...- extend Art 50 for GE
- leave on 12th april with no deal
- revoke Art 50 for fear of no deal
- extend Art 50 for GE

I am terrified she’s going to say “fuck all of you for not respecting my authoritah - enjoy your hard brexit”
-
• #20205
I fear she’s a knat’s pecker away from that exact thing, DJ
-
• #20206
I hope/think that she'd fuck over the ERG by revoking rather than fucking over the public by giving us hard Brexit. This shitshow is really their fault, not the public's.

Looking at the splits, there does look to be a route via a combination of customs union with a confirmation vote....
The customs union failed by a couple of votes, but was not supported by the TIG's, Greens or Lib Dems...
Would enough still vote for it, if it was merged? There is only one way to find out! Do we get one last go at this on Wednesday?
-
• #20208
Will it make a difference? Hard Brexit still looking most probable.
Difficult as No Deal may be for the EU, they're about ready to cut us loose.

• #20209
“Oh no, don’t go”
The EU to us, in 2016.
-
• #20210
Yes, HoC takes control of the timetable again on Wednesday... Oliver Letwin decides (again) what the votes are on and what the system will be

• #20212
Freedom isn’t free, Oliver

• #20213
Oh, you and your theories on self-predication.
-
• #20214
by ‘other side’ do you mean May’s government, or the EU (or both..!)?
Sorry for late reply--I meant the EU. Which one of May's governments do you mean?
-
• #20215
So 4th vote (how?) or beg extension, which will be denied (hard brexit) or granted (on condition of GE or PV). Feels like the soft options are falling off the table.

ib dem MPs cant vote to back there own parties policy on a customs union or common market. TIG members to princicpled to vote for a custom union or common market. Greens so principled that they cant vote for custom union... SNP abstained bit voted for common market at least Labour MP's voted pragmatically tories for the most part did not. My own MP voted for common market but not customs union or the other two. Again another MP voting for what they think is best on principle when what we need is voting based on what can work the best. We the poeple wanted principled politicians and we got them. Now look were it got us.
Letwin is a let down. He need to offer a preference vote system. Why oh why our MP's effing morons.
When is OK to stop caring?
The options have narrowed and I no longer care what the outcome is because which ever way we all loose equally now. I'll be applying for my Maltese citizenship (I don't have to buy it). Options open.

Waking up to this kind of debacle seems normal now, but, and I don’t think it’s been asked yet, WTAFIGO?
-
• #20218
I was wondering if you might have been referring to the fact that even if the indicative votes process settles on one particular best outcome - May might not even acknowledge it
-
• #20219
From what I understand, customs union on its own simply doesn't work - you still need the backstop.
The common market obviously works, but it's BRINO - what's the point?
Trying to get a majority when all the options are shit for their own reasons is always going to be tough...I don't know what the right answer is, other than it has to include a people's vote to reject whichever croc of shite eventually gets the nod.
I fear we will go GE instead though. In which case this may never end. Still dont think TM is stupid enough to accept no deal, my fear is the eu forces it on us.
-
• #20220
The EU can’t force it on us- we always have the choice to revoke. No deal Brexit is our choice.
-
• #20221
No deal Brexit is our right and our destiny.
-
• #20222
You mean the choice of our political overlords
-
• #20223
I don’t think no deal will happen, I think it’s a long extension coming.
Did anyone on here vote for leave? Or have the stones to admit it here
-
• #20224
Did anyone on here vote for leave?
Yes. Not me (at least, I'm not admitting to it), but yes and discussed much earlier in the thread. And certainly others who haven't admitted it on here.

Why would the EU grant an extension? I’m afraid I agree with David Allen Green’s assessment, unless May is removed from office in the next ten days, we’re leaving without a deal next Friday.
The ultimate last resort of this indicative votes process is that MPs put legislation through the HoC that legally binds the government to follow its instructions. That cannot happen before April 12 though (because it also has to go through HoL and be signed by the Queen - not enough time) so we're at May's mercy now. She might try another go at MV4, hoping that hardcore leavers will vote for it out of fear that Brexit will be cancelled otherwise, or some people are saying that she's considering attaching a People's Vote to it, which would probably get it over the line.
But I think we're going to get a long extension.
