Can’t help but think two small front panniers would make the pack up a lot neater?

Nice bikes!
-
• #8434
Nice; what's the rear rack there?

Custom, by me. Was a pretty quick prototype and doesn't really work all too well with the big saddlebag. Made a new one right after that gig but no pics yet.

If you want something to hold up a big carradice, the bagman expedition with the new(ish) struts works really well. Used mine loads now and it's really great, even when overloaded (naughty).

Can anyone confirm if I’ll need any adapters for 160mm discs on the earlier (2016/17) arkose (QR) I THINK they’re both post mount 160mm compatible but don’t want to leave it until I’m building to find out I might need an adapter.

Like some kind of tourer? 🤮
It's also the rack off the work bike so I don't need to buy said horrible panniers or rack and there was plenty of extra space for carrying water and beer to wild camp spots. -

Yeah it doesent look like (from tyres and guard clearance) that its gone off road, why “bikepacking” on a bike with possibilities to take racks? Because it looks cool on the instagram? Because GCN’s top 10 reasons you should try bikepacking video? Why?

I haz one bike (well, this kinda thing) there was plenty of off road, but a little more on, took some 42c off before I went because it looked like it was gonna be wet and they don't have room under the guards for off and I fancied guards, could've done without as it happened. All the kit is stuff I already had or could pinch from work and am skint and put it all together the day before I left. And Instagram likes, obviously.

I lie, I bought those outpost cages but they're dirt cheap trade.

Who’s fault it is that the weather stayed nice and dry and kept you ‘on trend’?
-
• #8444
If Snotters staying on trend is the price we pay for nice weather, I'll give him as many 'gram likes as I can.
-
• #8445
Well, it rained at night apart from Abingdon to Reading pretty much, was pretty good really.

I'll give him as many grams as he likes.
Sweet!

I haven't used them before, but since it's the way wheels seem to be heading, it'd be nice to be able to use new stuff, same for flat mount discs.

First short ride on my new Grail this weekend. Can't wait to explore the offroad world around me.
