Trust me when I say the R7000 levers have seen a lot more mud and abuse

I like the finish, but haven't seen it wear off like that before.

GRX is ugly anyway so who cares.

I reckon it looks and feels better than the road stuff.
-
• #15431
But I'll now be greasing up my levers to avoid wear.

Get a mtb = problem solved

Shows that 810 is not Ultegra level. Ultegra blades are carbon and so wouldn't wear like that.
Seems poor though. Even Deore alloy levers wear much much slower than that.

Don't know if I would use the lever material as the (main) qualifier. 815 is Di2, same level as 810 I would say (same lever design/material in any case), and there is no Di2 level below Ultegra.

Brake lever composition is going to be this week's hot topic

I use that stuff as my bar tape.

Ultegra Di2 levers are ally not carbon. I think my old Ultegra 10spd cable might've been carbon but not the Di2 hydro stuff

I'll take my comment back, only ever had proper experience of Shimano mechanical.

It got those weird texture on it, mine start to show smooth section after 2,000km

• #15446
Put some skateboard tape on it, and you got a gripper surface now.

Maybe shimano don't bother because they don't believe in gravel.
And know that all the "I need a gravel bike" guys don't ride anyway/will sell the gravel bike and go back to their mtb after they fall on their nose the first time? -

In summer too? With bare hands?

It’s on the base bars of my TT bike so I don’t spend a lot of time holding onto it but yes without gloves.
Have to say that Sprtful Giara gloves now make a lot more sense
