  • Yeah, the genesis is the best choice. Lighter than the kaffenback, tougher than the inflite and practical for both winter roadie duties and daily commuting duties. Guess this thread will be updated next in October/November...

  • Geo on Kaffenback (and all other PX steel frames) is weird imo.

  • I'm waiting to see what the AWOL Pizza Rack is like. From what I've seen online it looks like it could be a contender but it will depend on price.

  • I'd buy the Kaffenback now. Build now. Ride now.

If you don't like it and still want the Genesis in 6 months buy one and move the parts.

  • This is tempting. But the other half hates me buying and selling things in a short time frame. 'You only just bought that!' 'Why do you need the better one!?'... But I do really want it now. Haha.

  • Weird how? They're a little 'compact' so I'd be basing my size on the top tube length and then sorting the rest with seatpost length and saddle position. (If I were to get the Planet X)

  • I'd pay £400 not to have to deal with Yodel...

But... why not buy the Kaff, a bit of sneaky Sharpie action and some vinyl stickers to make it look like the Genesis, then swap in a few months when it's available... What could possibly go wrong...

  • Ha! Vinyl stickers to make it look like a genesis for my benefit or to trick the other half? Hahaha.
My gut is saying don't be so impatient. Wait. It'll be worth it.
But everything else is saying I want it nowwwww!

  • I wore the stock pads on the spyres in 3 week.
I replaced them with evans own brand pads 3 months a go and they are still going strong

  • Did think about this one, but is it pretty much the kaffenback? Did look on their eBay shop though and they have a Cda but not in the right size.

  • Bargainous find @TM, from a time gone bye when Genesis came in decent colours.
@Pete4Eyes, if your size is available get it and get yerself a carbon fork ( if required), job done!

  • That's a good point. Could just upgrade the fork at a later date... Hmmm

  • Just showed this to my mate who is looking for a winter hack, he bought one straight away.

  • Absolutely not, I linked you to a 631 equilibrium didn't i?!

  • Sorry I'm not all that clued up on tubing types... =[
I meant that when it comes down to it, it's a steel frame and steel fork. But I could, as was mentioned, buy a carbon fork for it at a later date.
So guessing the px frame is cheap steal? Not sure of the difference between 631 and 725.

  • They actually have a frame only option for £180. Is there an off the peg carbon disc fork out there I could get?

  • kinesis do one

  • Found the kinesis fork in stock.

Do people think this would look ok on the 631 equilibrium? Would the crown match up with a headset?

  • The lack of having much work to do during work hours today coupled with being impatient got the better of me for a while there today.
I'm gonna go for the one I like the most. Which unfortunately means waiting until the 2016 genesis line is released... Eugh. Would love a kaffenback to tied me over but can't justify the extra expenditure.

  • Take a look at Genesis website, the kinesis isn't all that different from theirs.
Black 631 frame, carbon fork, will look awesome.

  • But the 2016 frame has internal cable routing in the toptube and fork blade. I may need to step away from the Internet.

  • I think you know what you want to do. Maybe just a little patience is the order of the day. Wait til the 2016 is available, and ignore all of us rabble rowsers!

  • ^^ Not sure how it would match up but I have a SH one going if you're interested?
Not a lot of mileage (I swapped it for a fork with a lower crown height) but it does have a dumb scuff on it from where I tried to take the decals off! Ergo £60 :-)
