@umop3pisdn how did the race go?
-
• #554
Was good. Best effort of the year by a long way and I did 2:57.1 to go under my 3 minute goal.
Time for this bike (and thread) to hibernate until next summer.

Top stuff! Very impressive.....all the photos are inspiring me to take it more seriously next year and try to a few more events. Any top tips on getting entry to the Nationals?
-
• #556
You should! It's getting ahrder and harder to get into the national, though next year is up near Sunderland so might be slightly less oversubscrbed... just ride lots of opens, you want 3 top 10s really to have a good chance of getting in.
Worth doing events like Cat&Bec or Monsal - easier to get in but almost the atmosphere of a National.

Yep definitely going to give cat and Bec a go and Monsal looks quality. Getting set up with a hill bike and trimmed myself down a bit.....conveniently at the end of the hill climb season!

Congrats man, watched a video the DRK guys uploaded of an effort and it made me want to puke just watching it

OMG I've only just realised what road this was on. I drove up it earlier this year to park before riding in the Peak's and it was disgusting. Chapeau.

Yep - I got the train up and coming from the station looking up to the top of the hill I was seriously considering turning around again.
My friend Courtney had a GoPro on for his ride:

God that looks horrible, +1 internet respect!

Very interesting seeing the HR for the effort required....pretty much get to max heart rate then keep going for another 2-3 mins
-
• #565
Twice, and I still feel fucking rough. Probably my best bit of bicycle inflicted self harm to date.
-
• #566
That is horrific.

I don't think it's been on Riber since the 80s. Difficult to get the road closed perhaps?
I was going to ride up Riber the morning of the National but was dissuaded by people telling me that everyone those with gears were walking down at the open the week before - Speedplay cleats are not ideal on wet leaves.

How did they apply those metrics out of interest? particularly the gradient.
-
• #571
You can link it up with a Garmin file. If gradient is from that then it won't be hugely reliable. Garmin Virb software I think.

• #572
Oh really, thanks, that's interesting.

Matt Randall nailed it.

It seems you're enjoying that light sunday afternoon ride. :)

At least put some effort in, it's supposed to be a race.
