"..but alas, caffeinated, ready for the off, on switching on GPSs, no heart rate reading! Wake up phone call to crew chief Hoppo to sort out solution and check with UMCA officialdom if I was OK to ride while I changed batteries. I had to source batteries from some electrical goods from a petrol garage, which was time consuming. Eventually managed, but still no HR reading. This basically ruined the big ride. I was going to ride home into a light wind, then rest until I felt ready for another long stint. But the delays set me back, making my hoped for tailwind into a headwind that at times had me down to 8mph out of the saddle on the flat. That combined with my diet adaption, made for what was easily (ha ha) the toughest day of the year in spite of it being very short! Probably pushed a bit too hard into the wind too, to be honest. Home for food, bath and bed and not coming out till I'm ready, so nyer! This will hopefully mean a good day tomorrow...."

http://audaxclubhackney.co.uk/tg.html is doing odd things, currently seems to be under-reporting at 169miles, but was showing 215 miles a few minutes ago, and chops and changes back and forth. Currently near Norwich, started near Bristol.

I've finally caught https://goo.gl/RBHtiS back up to date, but still waiting for a UMCA update to get official figures.
Kurt has been motoring recently, knocking out an average of 220+ miles per day over the last fortnight. If he can keep that up, it'll put him 1121 miles or so over Tommy's record, and leave Steve needing an average of 214 miles every day from now until the end of his second attempt.
If Steve's distances keep low for the next month (he's only averaged 159 miles per day for the last fortnight, which has been a tough one with the new diet, so should hopefully be a worst case scenario) he would then need to manage 223 miles every day to top Kurt (if he can keep up that 220).
To get himself onto the podium for attempt 1, Steve now needs to be cranking out 218 miles per day until the end of the year. This would get him past Bernard Bennett by 10 miles.
All hypothetical of course, but interesting none the less.
