Panache? Ride with it and you get a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card.
I think its a fucking shame Geraint has gone all stage-racey. I can't see him being able to keep up on those steep Italian climbs in the Giro and he was turning into such a strong classics rider. Was it last year or the year before when everyone was shit-scared of him in the Ronde and he was marked out of it?
Anyway can't wait for the foul weather, baying crowds, mud and cobbles. Best time of the year.

I use Belgian toothpaste every day.

Thanks for this, thought it had expired. Signed up.
Can we have a forum alert before 31 December to cancel before it jumps to £60 for the following year?

You don't end up in the top ten of the Tour GC in the final week without being able to climb. I can see why he's done it, but I think he's better suited for the classics.

Yeah but them spikey Italian mountains, I remember how badly Wiggins came unstuck going up and then down them. I know G can climb, I just don't think he can climb with the best of them over 3 weeks. And he had the potential to be a monster in the classics, in 2015 he looked incredible.

That's why I love this forum. Amazing, thanks. Future payments cancelled. I can relax for 10 months now.

Shame in many respects Thomas put his road career on hold to go round and round at the Olympics.
Hope we see him back having a full tilt at the classics but at least it clears the way for Stannard and Rowe to properly get stuck in for now.

He won't come back to the classics. He prefers week long stage races.
I think Luke Rowe will more than step into his shoes, and be far better. He's shown great talent in the past few years and is knocking on the door

We'll see. I think Thomas can handle himself in the mountains, plus he'll have Landa to play off. I don't think he'll win it but I reckon he can finish in the top 5.
It's a shame you can't do both the classics and the GTs these days. But, as @skinny points out, Luke Rowe is a more than able deputy. He looked strong last year and is another year older and wiser, so I'd expect him and Stannard to have a good spring.

Meanwhile, Cavendish opens his 2017 win account, he's just beat Greipel in the opening stage of the Tour of Abu Dhabi. Kittel and Ewen caught in a crash around the 1 kilometre to go point.

Suggestion this was done to Doull's shoe by Kittel's disc.

Where does the scuff mark come from then?

Where's that picture from?

No idea. Apparently that's Sky's claim.

Not this again. It's like the "omg he has a motor because his wheel is spinning but he's not pedaling" syndrome.

Not saying I agree. Knowing how sprinters are reluctant to brake in the finale, seems unlikely Kittel's disc would be hot.
Plenty of scope to hurt yourself on a chainring/sprockets/spokes etc etc.

I was just going to say, I got my arm sliced open by a chainring in a crash racing last year. Since then I've been campaigning for all races to be on belt-drive bikes only.

• #9698
Wouldn't have to be hot, just spinning fast.

Chainrings, cassettes....

Is that you? Did it scar? I really like the pattern. How can I get mine done?
Last time I checked Stannard hadn't failed any drug tests, whereas that Belgian doper, well why does he cop less shit than all the other cheats?
