He’s getting paid handsomely to do world-class rehab. That’s another way to look at it. Well played, Froomey.

I know we joked / complained about some of the Giro commentators but after 3 mins of listening to Kirby I'd pay ALOT of anything (money, haribos, clothing outfits to suit All Bar One) to get them back on air.

He's driving me mad with his constant drivel. The other day he said of Louis Meintjes "...but is he the main keys" wtf does that even mean!??
-
• #35206
Did he do the Giro last year or has he been demoted?
-
• #35207
constant drivel
It's his endless word association game that does my head in. If I wanted that I'd watch Wacaday re-runs.
-
• #35208
Timmy Mallet loves riding bikes. He might be a better commentator
-
• #35209
Ooh, now that you mention 're-runs', it really makes me think of the rear ones in the peloton.

Tom Pidcock has broken his collarbone after crashing last Monday. He was training around Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via and was found conscious on the ground. His frame broke in two on impact.
yikes 😬
gws are pidders

I just can't take Kirby any more. I listen to the German commentary. I'm not fluent but I know enough to chuckle along with their frequent toilet humour.
The Giro showed just how bad Kirby is - I'd suggest it showed they could manage without Rob Hatch too but he's not so maddening (except when for some weird reason he misses off 'the' from 'the Giro', as in 'welcome to Giro D'Italia'). Unfortunately there's always an equal amount of support from Eurosport viewers on Twitter for Kirby as there is criticism. -

EEsh. Thats a head on with something judging by the snapped frame and front rim.
-
• #35213
I think Rob Hatch is actually really good.
With Kirby, I wonder whether he enjoys cycling.
-
• #35214
Hatch is fairly adorable but unfortunately seems to be going down the same path of awful word play as Kirby. No lip smacking and gulping though so at least there is that. I’d pay double to have no Kirby
-
• #35215
Rob Hatch knows his stuff and obviously works really, really hard but he has the 'commentator style' and the other ones on during the Giro, the ex riders, always sound more like they are having a conversation, like they are talking to a person rather than an audience. I think he does have the respect of the ex-riders though which I can't imagine Kirby does at all. That's what I think, anyway.

Kirby can explain what is happening in front of him but has no idea why any of it is happening.
His downright melancholy highlight package voiceovers are just weird too, like its an absolute chore and he’s got a gun to his head or something.
Rob Hatch’s obsession with Mr Nibble’s Shark nickname is just odd, “the Shark is in the water” bellowed randomly whenever he’s on screen.

So this happens and all y'all talk about is some commentators that annoy you.

• #35218
Cyclist falls off and breaks collar bone? Hold the front page for news about bears and woods.
-
• #35219
Well it's big news for MvdP's olympics aspirations.

Olympic mountain biking deserves its own thread. Like baking and water skiing.
-
• #35221
You think Rob Hatch will commentate on the kayaking or Kirby?
-
• #35222
Please don't @reply me, I'm here all day. Use my name, like you would if we were making sweet love while analysing a sprint.
-
• #35223
olympic mountain bike would have deserved its own thread if those dirty MTBers would have stayed in that discipline and not come over to road
wankers

are pidders clearly riding a rebadged canyon. I'm an expert in analysing their body language and they only do this (snap in two) when heavily distressed

I genuinely will not watch a race with Kirby commentating
Froome caught by his minute man.
Sam Bennett to Ineos per Het Niewsblad.
Both things I was not not expecting to see today.
