Where’s he going? And why does he want to leave?
-
• #35178
UAE or Jumbo, but don’t expect me to do any due diligence on the story. I just wanted to beat Amey and dubtap to the scoop.

• #35179
Last few seasons he has looked happy for once. Maybe he wants that crack at leadership

15 minutes of Chris Horner saying “dolphinay” has not put me in a good place

Gonna enjoy a week of watching overrun tennis matches labelled as dauphine highlights on eurosport

Why do you assume it's his choice?
-
• #35186
Because he was a huge asset to the team at last years Giro and by all accounts he was expected to ride the tour this summer. Doesn’t strike me as a rider one would fire. But who knows, maybe he had a blazing row with management and they decided he was too difficult to make his skill worthwhile.

Bit of a 6/10 giro for me. Great to see plenty of winners from the break but it turned into a procession for Bernal because he was head and shoulders above the rest.
Wish he was lining up for the TdF in this form.

Tbf that sounds preferable to listening to Carlton Kirby's word associations.

Highlights start about 8pm on ITV hub.

What was his contract duration? He doesn't have to have been fired. If his contract is up for renewal that might've simply seen better value in another rider.

Interesting cooperation between Pöstlberger (great hair) and Archibald (not so much)- at the end, Asgreen was one of the sprinters trying to catch him. How do DQS feel about him having helped someone else beat his teammate?

Archibald
That confused me--it was Archbold.

Asgreen isn't really a sprinter. More of an opportunist in a stage like yesterday, so I doubt the plan for the day was to set Asgreen up for a sprint.
Having a man up the road is a tried and tested tactic, as it means your team have no responsibilities in contributing to the effort to bring the break back.

Quality slow mo uphill sprint today
Looked like me doing overgear team sprint starts! -

One of those sprints where you get lactic acid in your legs from watching it.

Froome still struggling. Admire his tenacity to return to top level sport after that accident - another outcome might have been years of rehab just to learn to walk again - but his talk of winning another tdf seems detached from reality.
-
• #35198
Colbrelli looks like he's popular in the peloton - a number of riders from various teams stopped off to pat him on the bum after his win today, which you don't always see.

I still don't understand how he was going deepish into the mountains in the Vuelta last year, even doing a crappy turn or two, then going okayish at UAE. And is now getting binned on climbs where sprinters are making it over with ease. He seems to have regressed dramatically.

Looked like me doing overgear team sprint starts!
Looked like me in this evening's club TT, stuck in a 58x11 gear for 10 miles...
Awesome, ta.
#rep n'all that.
