Is there an equivalent for frogs?

Does anyone have unused cleats to shift? New or old style.

I bought some Pavés because they look fucking sadistic, and my right CroMo, after 7000K of city commuting, probably 3500x clipping in, occasionally pops off at max torque, like when a bus seems about to smash me into the pavement. Have tried new cleats + half heartedly cleaning but didn't bother to try replacing any bits. [EDIT: sold]
Observations on Pavés:
- They're heavier because there's now metal in places which used to be plastic
- Clipping in and out feels different, they don't ping out so willingly as before + no satisfying click
- The material under the bow ties where the spring sits seems tougher... the whole unit does
- I can't tell the difference between the red and yellow cleats, and the yellow cleats seem to work fine
- Being clipped in feels more solid but could just be new v old as both my Zero sets are quite old
- They're heavier because there's now metal in places which used to be plastic

I have the (previous) pro-peleton version and assume them to use more or less the same mechanism-- despite different manufacturing and the resulting aesthetics. The pro cleats were the basic yellow with just the addition of the thin steel carbon sole protector. When the new pave version came out I asked Speedplay if there was a difference between the red and yellow and their response was
"Thank you for contacting Speedplay.
There is a difference in cleats.
You can use a Pave cleat with Zero Pedals, but not Zero cleats with Pave pedals.
Any further questions please feel free to contact us again."Since I don't have any red-cleats I can't comment on the differences but might suspect that the red might have a slightly different C-ring.

Slightly random cleat compatibility question - I had a broken cleat spring at the weekend and had to source a replacement. Luckily I found a local bike shop (many thanks to Bridport cycles - great shop, would highly recommend if you're in Dorset) who (although not a Speedplay stockist) sold me the cleats of the shop owner's wife's shoes so I could be on my way!
The cleats were the grey model which I think is light action (and they feel much lighter). All I've done is swap the spring in and replace the whole cleat and seems fine so far (I was able to ride another 100m since), but does anyone know if they are supposed to be cross compatible in this way or will my shoes explode?

Speedplay say you're not meant to mix and match bits from old/new cleats, etc. but I've done it quite a few times because their C-springs always break. You should be ok, so long as you've followed the normal requirements for screw torque, etc.

There's some sideways rocking action with my Zeros/walkable cleats - any easy way of telling whether it's just the cleats that have worn or pedal bodies are knackered too?
-

Any UK/EU suppliers of the Aero Walkable cleat surrounds? I can only seem to see US ones, with correspondingly stupid US shipping prices...
-
• #843
No - these are the bits that go under the cleat covers and around the 3hole - 4hole adapter.

Do Speedpray have bearing kits or is it just a case of filling with more grease and riding until they totally die? Mine have quite a bit of free play in them after TCR. They appear to have ejected ALL the grease.

Would sell the CroMos for 20 without cleats if anyone can be bothered
Still got these?
-
• #846
Yeah, but they're readily available bearings. I recently bought the whole lot (including circlips etc) for £18ish off ebay. In fact, that price was for 4 of each bearing I think, so can do another rebuild at some point in the future.
I should note that I've not done the rebuild yet, waiting for my chinese ti axles to arrive.

Ta. Are there replacement instructions with them?

They went to @TurtleRecall

I see, thanks. I want to see what the fuss is about but the cost puts me off
I got some Zeros in a shop called The Edge in Cork (Ireland) for €130 which is pretty bloody cheap... they have an online store which only lists Light Actions but they have all Speedplay I think
