They have a plastic body. I've been very happy with the pairs I've had though.

they're shit, get speedplays, enjoy nice knees, and never having to actively think about clipping in
-
• #780
Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick; he did my bike fit though (with speedplays and me mostly asking about my bad knee)
-

I have never really struggled with knee problems, but could be seen as preventative? shoes I was going to buy arent going to be in stock for another month now anyway so will wait anyway..

but could be seen as preventative?
Just dont bother honestly .. dont fuck with the fit if everything is fine for you. Spend on drugs or something.

yeah good idea

Speedplays are brilliant even if you ignore the knee saving float. I've got mine locked down to 0 float. I can adjust exactly the zero angle for the cleat, how much float, where the disengagement point is, they're solid when clipped in, no rocking or shifting and they're by far the easiest pedals to get in once they're broken in. I've spend so long on Keo's and the like having cleats shift around in the pedal or squeaking or never being able to get them in the right position or the bearings dying etc. The only real downside to Speedplays is they're the worst for walking in and I keep managing to lose my Keep on Kovers.

I keep managing to lose my Keep on Kovers.
J&L on ebay do a version which is way cheaper
-

They do, but they come from the far East and take 3 weeks to arrive. Also they don't hold as well, I've already lost 2 left side ones.
-
• #787
Oh I may have a spare left, but order 3 pair at once?

The aero cleats are worth the premium in this regard alone.

i use the aero cleat with my normal pedals, they are way easier to walk in

Any spare lefts would be greatly appreciated. I'm building up a collection of unused rights
-
• #791
Yeah? Don't they wear down?
-
• #792
I'll have a rummage and see what I've got
-
• #793
Want any rights in exchange?

Very durable IME: the rubber is pretty thick. I've yet to wear out that part before I've worn out the cleat.
Last time I looked, the difference between regular cleats and aero ones was about a tenner. Over the life of a pair of cleats, that's pretty reasonable to me: not having to remove/re-attach/loose the covers.
And then there's the aeroz!

I'll buy a right off you, if you've got a spare!

+1

The original keep on kovers v3 are legit.
You will lose the cheap knockoff ones.
The new version plastic compound is tough. If you want to get a low stack on cleats you will need to invest in speedplay specific shoes.
Lake and Sidi make these.
