The solution to all of this, Brexit, indyref, was always for England to leave the UK and do it's own thing. It's not Scotland that's moving away from the UK, you know, it's England that is moving away from the post-war social democratic settlement. Has been since the 80's, determined to drag the rest of the UK with it.
The words 'exvasion' or 'Exit' (no silly additional initial letters needed) spring to mind. :)

As usual, what George said.

May's face! Seething...
-

Rumour has it that May is going to rule out a second referendum this afternoon.
Which will be interesting.

I guess "the will of the people" only counts when you agree with them.
-
• #1433
Or when you technically disagree with them but have found yourself in a new position of power and really want to keep it that way.

And so Sturgeon will call one and May's intransigence will solidify the leave vote and May will get what she wants and claim no responsibity for it.
I can't see the Tories really caring enough about Scotland to want to maintain the Union. They probably feel that an English only electorate gives them more chance of perpetual power.

Scotland hasn't really played a part in most elections. If you remove their votes, something like 85% of general elections in the past 100 years would have gone the same way.

Boooom! And there it is.
You can't say it's not exciting. WHAT NEXT?!

Scotland's to loose.
Scotland versus whom?

There's so much to follow in what what is already quite a fragile situation, that I don't think this tell you that much, other than it's fairly even to start with. Who knows what the Brexit deal will actually look like? (Well, we can speculate, but it's hard for the public to wade through a largely right-biased media).

Cry havoc and let slip the referendum?

Hark at these New Labour types coming up with sensible ideas. Can we just hit them with the Iraq stick until they go away again?

So, if talk about Scottish independence is endless, how can it stop? Eh? Eh?
-
• #1446
She’ll go on about it till the cows come home, I hope we get a 2nd vote and she doesn’t get it again.
I think in a fairytale independence is fantastic but in reality it’s non starter imo if it’s anything like the previous white paper which was a mark of Fiction and delusions at best. She’s not even sorted the pandemic out up here and is banging on about it again, it’s never ending I’m sick of it.
One last thing to add, seeing the mess and how difficult the EU are being with brexit I can only imagine it would be the same or worse if it happened.

I’m not sick of it . The sooner it happens the better.

Any specifics?

I consider myself British, but am also pro European. Before Brexit I would have laughed at an independent Wales, however if the choice was keep the British union or have Welsh independence with Wales being fully integrated into the E.U I would struggle to make a choice.
(I know the thread is about Scotland and I know the likelihood of an independent Wales is far more remote).

Nice as it would be but Wales voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU
If we took the Welsh votes out of the pot would we have left?
I think Sturgeon is playing May like a fiddle at the moment (although I don't rate Sturgeon much, either).
