  • Shoosh, I might call on you again for velodrome spectating babysitting duties if thats an open offer...

At the moment it looks like I might be babysitting 2 three year olds, but if you have slightly older children who aren't too menacing, I'm happy to try and occupy them and we will try and muddle through somehow.

FYI, not qualified childminder or anything else just love kids and happy to help, if I can.

  • Regarding foot wear: my running trainers aren't that comfortable to ride in with cages so will converse be ok? I'm wondering if they will be too soft when using cages?

^^^ I though that the taster session is the stage 1 accreditation?

  • I will be there but only to spectate :( as I will have my kids with me and they can't be trusted on their own!

I'm going to spectate too. If you need someone to "babysit" your kids while you get on your bike, please PM me.

I have roped a relative into coming with me to look after the kids and Shoosh has very kindly offered to help out too.
I am so excited to get back onto a track for the first time in 3 years and this track specifically. For what it's worth I have full track accreditation from Newport and will bring my own bike. If it still works!

  • Will try to come down to take some photos of the day! Be prepared of the usual hoke's photos covering two pages of hipster riding fast! =)

  • Might drive up from SE4, so if someone local to me needs a lift I could help... should take about 20mins but with time working out where to park, getting ready etc, will be leaving around 8.

  • My missus and 3 x junior supporter crew are coming along, though I imagine after 15mins of circles, they'll be off to the cafe for cake.

Fucking directions to the parking are well shit.

  • They really do not want you to drive there do they? Fair enough I understand that it's for cycling but what if you want to participate in the track league for example and use your own bike?

  • I understand people's frustration. Initially I found it was pretty difficult and confusing to get there but I have to relate it to herne hill's velodrome as people who been there can reflect back to how difficult it is to find the place for the first time and driving there before the road was pave was quite horrid. I think falls in the same bracket for Stratford as well, on the plus side their road surfaces are brand new and there are plenty of free car parking spaces designed next to the velodrome.

  • Eh? HHV is easy to find, it's on a road that exists on maps and stuff. The new velodrome is in a completely unnavigable vortex. Plus you have to go through east london to get there.

Hey! East London isn't that ba..... Oh.

    +1

  • Don't listen to them shoosh! (far) east London is where the cool kids are at!

  • You're Becktoning the question, though.

  • I've been Schick!

Just because the cool kids live there it doesn't mean the place Is cool.

I live very Far East.... So Far East I'm in Essex. Just ;)

Anyway, it looks like the Shoosh LFGSS crèche/ entertaining of sprogs so grown ups can ride bikes might be happening.

In case there is anyone else, please PM me. I'm not on any yewtree lists.

  • Pssst, Ho, you might want to edit that. :)

  • There will also be a cap on those who .. participate,

Bring some caps for spectators too vb

  • Just realised I don't have any bike shorts..

    Is denim ok?

  • The Velodrome can be a bit of a ball ache to find the first time or at least it was for me so leave enough time. Also not as close to the public transport links as you might imagine.

Really thrilled for you Mike! Nice to have your twins there too. Have fun!

  • I found car park directions for those driving. You need to approach from the Westfield end once you're inside the Olympic park.

(You can get into the park from White Post Lane /Carpenters rd in Hackney Wick too)

Go to park, make a beeline for the big velodrome shaped building. If you're not driving its a piece of piss.

  • Also, I note the weather is looking, how you say, biblical for Saturday morning. Would anyone (who maybe was thinking about riding there until they looked at the forecast) be interested in splitting the cost of a Zipvan in SW London to transport bikes and riders?

Looked at the forecast, booked. This must be almost full now ?

    Dumps sent you a PM

  • Was thinking of riding out there alright but am just gonna get the tube if its raining.

  • ^this!
