I always take some samosas, my favourite food on a long ride.

Is it time to link the recipe for a Shooter's Sandwich again? I think it is:
http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/gallery/2010/apr/07/how-to-make-shooters-sandwich
Cut into slices, you can barter them for coffee, batteries, chocolate, a tow, new legs...

Definitely making on of these. Looks amazing!
Pasta salad with lots of chicken in it has done me well in the past. And whisky. And jelly beans.

Big list - will the LFGSS CC jerseys be ready for this? That would be awesome.
For anyone else going so far my training has involved my regular daily 10m commute and the odd track session - so fuck all really
I've no doubt the last 90 miles or so will hurt so hopefully there will be a few others with questionable fitness and the fondness for apint and pork pie en route - just for energy & fluids yeah
There are also going to be some 2014 edition Dunwich jerseys made by Milltag. The design is just being finalised...they look awesome! -

Will they have sharks or unicorns on? And will the LGFSS get a kick back if bought via the website
If not then not interested

I'm assuming this wouldn't really work with a nut cutlet instead of the steak.

Would probably work with big mushrooms and assorted chunky, juicy vegetables. But you'd have to re-think the name. Perhaps: Clay Pigeon Shooter's Sandwich.

A Forager's Sandwich perhaps?

No but it would work with steak

Is the route very hilly?
Does anyone have a route map of the previous years with elevation data on it?
Only a few weeks to go and I'm thinking I might want to change my ratio a bit if I'm going to be doing more hilly riding than usual. Planning a few long rides maybe just go to somewhere like regents inner ring and spin around all day to work on pacing(poor mans turbo trainer) as I have a real issue with doing fast spurts and then slacking off when I should stay constant at something I can manage.
But yeah any advice would be great.

There is one hill. It's not very big. avoid a spinny gear.

did the dynamo route in a car on saturday as i was going to southwold for a wedding...really enjoyable seeing certain parts of it in daylight and pointing out places where i've fallen asleep or enjoyed an early morning hot dog. it takes on a whole new perspective.
average speed in the car was 28mph, so just goes to show how windy the lanes are!

Are we talking camden town to finsbury park, brixton hill, dulwich college road, crystal palace, forest hill, denmark hill?
I'm sure biking up/over hills is always good for training but want to try get a reasonably similar hill to add to regular rides so I'm a bit more ready.
Also going to try ride the first 25 mile section london fields to just after the m25 and then return home, should make for a 60ish mile ride. I did think I should ride half or more then jump on a train home but cba with trains.

Think pentonville road from kings x to angel. But really it is a damn flat ride. The training you'll need is mental to stick at it at 2am before the dawn and arse based so you can sit down for 6-10 hours...

Would that be along the long road between Buckhurst Hill and Epping?

Just after a big pub crowd, maybe 30 miles in...

The one your thinking of would be the short sharp ramp after the Fox at Finchingfield. Best strategy to get up that hill is to stop at the Fox for a pint to give you courage and have one of their sausage rolls for sustenance, the clever among us nab a second for surreptitious nibbling en-route. Of course if there are none left by the time I get there you lot on that list up there ^^ will be for the high jump.
There's the longish drag into Sudbury but the pub at the top will be closed by then so you'll just have to deal with that the best you can.

Or as I found out with eyebrows and co last year, turn left after the bridge and go on for a bit and then right (for Finchingfield). Was amused to see that we had picked up c. 15 riders at that point who had blindly followed us off route

I have literally no recollection of the route.
Can't remember any uphills. I can remember hitting deep in the pain cave on the way back to Ipswich, pinch flat central somewhere near a pub with some very friendly people watching, and chasing the fuck out of a Phoenix chaingang because my friend had gotten stuck on a corner and at that point we had no idea where we were, at all.
I also seem to remember picking up someone at some point and riding with them the whole time, or maybe not.
And breakfast.
Branwen, any help?? What was I doing?
I've done it with nuts and fruit and candy snacks but man there's nothing like a proper packed sandwich (or 4) at 3am in the middle of nowhere.
