Anyone know if you can use shoes with look cleats on them on those hire bikes?
The hire bikes either have cages and straps or look keo pedals. You can specify.

From what I understand, it seems as though once you've done your taster session you will be able to book the next stages through your membership to the site. That's the impression I got anyway.
I booked my taster session for the 20th of April and was told that further accreditation sessions would be available to book upon completion.

Anyone know if Lee Valley is up and running yet ?
Got me a taster booked for April 6th.
Not sure I'm looking forward to 43 degree banked turns :/ -

Can't believe they are letting people on that track with skanky trainers
-
• #82
Disco slippers or GTFO.
-
• #83
Hey my trainers are very clean.... ;-)

When are the slots available for taster sessions?
I want to buy a gift voucher, but I know the recipient will have limited availability.
ie: prolly only at the weekend. -
• #85
The voucher is just a card with a code to redeem for a session. The recipient can book whenever convenient and enter the code. Ie you just pay for the voucher and the recipient can sort out when a good time is open.

My kids have clubbed together and bought me a taster session for my borthday. How sweet is that? I'll be there first thing on 15 April. Need to find some shoes - I guess they won't want me turning up on the boards in my sidis with nasty little metal MTB cleats.

Hey all.
I have a taster session booked for Saturday evening at 7.30 that I may not be able to attend any more.
Does anyone want to take it off my hands, or swap me onto their session on a different day?
Let me know ASAP. -
• #88
FRICK!!! would have swap you for up and coming Monday, but it will clash with my mates dinner party! =(
-
• #89
Ah boo.
-
• #90
Ok i've got someone to take my space, assuming Lee Valley allows me to swap the names.
-
• #91
Do tell them whether they still need staff to raise the bridges.
-
• #92
I've booked accreditation stage 2 for Thursday 17th at 7pm if anyone wants to join me? About 14 spaces left.
-
• #93
I might take you up on that offer. First stage accreditation was great fun.
-
• #94
I'd love to, but haven't done "the taster" yet.
-

OK
All the hire bikes are Condor. at 81 gear inches.
Cages with trainers or Look Keo cleats; hire shoes/helmets/gloves are available if you don't have your own.To get accreditation = 4 steps, the first of which is a taster. I think by the time you get to stage 3 I'ld be surprised to think that trainers would still be ok.
The website isn't up to date and you need to have a membership number, there are obviously teething issues with the whole process.
Expect to spend a minimum of £100-120 to get an accreditation.
Plenty of bike parking outside and you'll have no problem bringing in folding bikes and using the lockers.
It is about 20mins ride from Liverpool St via Victoria Park/Eastway and then into the park.

Nice one Arvy. And mods stick that in the OP?
-
• #97
does anyone know what bikes they have for the general public
condor i know, but the model of the frame ? -
• #98
I would imagine they are custom for the velodrome, if they are not the standard Pista?

I'm trying to book my "improver" session on the line, but can't find out how to get the option to show.
The option shows on this page
http://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/en/content/cms/london2012/velo-park/track/track-accreditation/But, when I login, it only offers Taster sessions, vouchers and sessions for already accredited riders...
Do I need to wait for them to update my member details after the first session still?

In theory yes, but it is obvious that this process isn't as slick as it should be. You could try calling but I think there are only 2 on the phones so don't be surprised if you don't get through.
Booked my taster sesh for 15/04. One step towards the accreditation.
