Sorry for the lack of updates but here we are: The BB is not stuck but the teeth have rounded off. It therefore needs to be removed before I can move on. Matt (coldharbour) can melt it out, or the other option is for it to be milled out at Oak Cycles. Anyone have any relevant experience? Ideally I'd like to keep the paint.

file notches into it, vice and turn the frame?

I had an engineer pal cut a bb out of a nag technos,
hardest part was axle, bored it out, the cut casing out, then recut bb shell threads,
was fine and dandy when finished

pour caustic down seat tube and try to seal the space at the axle with putty? would dissolve the alloy from the inside and not touch the paint...

ild try mechanically first; so as suggested; file notches out and use the leverage of the frame on a bench vice. directly going chemical i would say is too risky..
-
• #183
I can't file notches in, because the bb sits flush inside the bb shell...
-
• #184
cut out axle as flush as possible; widen notches and cut in axle to accomodate a thicker plate of metal which you clamp in a vice and use to twist outt the bb.
otherwise i think its saarfs route.
to keep the paint ild really refrain from chemicals until all else fails..

but of those campag bbs, at least one of the cups doesnt go entirely in the bb does it?
whats also a possibility is to drill two holes in the cup, stick some considerable diameter metal sticks in them clamped in a vice and again use the frame for leverage?
-
• #186
is there some way (eg drilling and inserting nails into the holes) to make the spindle as one with the bb cup then turning the spindle with a spanner?
-
• #187
my route was similar to yours regarding inserting a foreign object into bb for turning
either secure frame and turn said object if long enough to get good torque, or secure object and move frame, axles are a harder metal than bb casing, and seatposts, I figured that chemicals that would burn through axle could end up damaging paint
I would lubricate bb area thoroughly also
the lube process can take time if you are ocd like me -

nope, flush on both sides...
Tried drilling and using a pin spanner the other day at work, no luck.
Will upload a pic or two later

Might just leave it in there to be honest, it is smooth and has life left.
I can always deal with it at a later date.
This is where we stand currently, with Record hubs, headset and crankset
excuse the shit pic!

Those bars looks silly.
-
• #193
Yeah, Not too happy with the aesthetics of the cockpit...needs longer stem..
But those bars are fine once they have hoods and taped up:

Also, so tempted by 10 speed carbon Record....
-
• #195
Needs longer bars! the reach on those is so puny....

It is tiny with the lack of brake hood, Brother TM, why do you berate Brother 'Pollo? you too have the same disease.

XL skirting board to match the bike

Groupset should be here in the next few days...
Just need to make a decision on finishing kit, then good to start building it up.

Brother Apollo, Brother Spatr have some classic Veloce levers that'll go brilliantly with the bike.

Thanks for letting me know, but a 9 speed Record Ti groupset turned up this morning in the post :D
Ti just because it is Ti. Who needs 11 speed anyway? ;)
