And thanks Earthloop for the battery pack for the garmin. Gonna make me one of those!
This seems like a good deal at the moment: www.amazon.co.uk/EasyAcc-10000mAh-External-Battery-Portable/dp/B00BJCHH36/ref=pd_rhf_sc_p_t_1_SC0P
If it's really 10000mAh it will hold about 8 full charges of a garmin edge.

Hey Jim who joined the ride at finchley, long / short ride up north next year?
-
• #481
hello everyone, I'm new on this page. Maybe someone knows when another London Borough Spiral Ride????
-
• #482
Whenever someone decides to have one. Anyone can, just pick date and start a ride thread.
-
• #483
As soon as it gets light/warm again I'd be up for helping organise
-
• #484
Well Earthloop went through all the trouble of setting up a route, the only organising would be to make a thread and lead the ride.

True although I think there were some amendments needed to ensure it actually went through all the boroughs?

No the route was fine. But some of us sped of and missed 'a bit'.

There were some improvements made on the day, but I've already captured them in a new version of the route on ridewithgps, it's linked above.
There was a detour deeper into Hackney, due to confusion about whether Hackney Road is called that because it's a road in Hackney or because it's the road to Hackney from somewhere else, I think. It turns out this was not needed, but it didn't do any harm either.

For some values of fine. It's a workable route, but if there was one thing I'd change it would be to avoid the very bad potholed surface on some back roads somewhere near Lewisham (I think) but I can't remember exactly where. We hit them in the dark, it wasn't good.

7ven and myself were talking about this ride today... How about a Spring Spiral? Anyone else up for it?

Defo!

Can do!

Excellent, I'll tell you what I had in mind. This may not work for everyone but fits in with my family schedule. A small group of people averaging c 25kph.
Leaving Sidcup at 12.30 on a Sunday afternoon. Should be 8 hours of riding. Stop half way for a meal. -

I love what you're doing 7VEN. Admirable but maybe a little naive. We certainly could've ridden more fluidly and as a group to avoid delays but since our ride was not far off double what you've estimated, I'm not sure how lucky we'd be with that.
Still, game for round two! -

Still, game for round two!Probably. When discussed with MadeinMelburn, it was more in the context of 3 or 4 capable riders smashing it out. Still game to give in a go. Can't say you didn't tell me so when I'm still riding at 2am! :)

The longest day is almost upon us, we get 16.5 hours of daylight until about the end of June. I'm considering having another go at this with daylight all the way, starting at 0445 on a Sunday.
Any interest ?
Or we could start a bit later and ride a bit faster and/or have shorter stops. 7ven has shown us that it can be done in 8.5 hours elapsed if you're a nutter, so I expect a smallish group of reasonably fit riders could get round in 10 hours without anyone's legs exploding. That would make for a much more civilized 10am start, while still allowing an hour of daylight in which to ride home from the finish.

Sunday 22nd?
Would depend if i had recovered from Rolling to the Stones -
• #499
I want to do this again, but looks like I might do the 'Rolling to the Stones' the night before, if we are talking about doing this on June 20th.

I'd love to come with you to do it again except being a single parent, all my rides start post 12pm on Sunday.
It's worth it just to see the compass on the garmin slowly changing direction.
I'd recommend going down the cycle paths adjacent to the A312.
I did it with a 7.38 moving time.
Had to change my cleats after the ride such is the amount of stopping.
Good luck and thanks Earthloop for the GPX file.
One heck of a ride
