Big up Nick for organising such an amazing ride! It's unbelievable how you managed to mastermind this massive route, much respect!
Big up Tanya for navigating third quarter of the first circle and being the only lady in the group! Thanks Hats for the biscuits in busy McD!
Massive thanks to Hugh for organising breakfast and being so caring of everybody and truly an inspiration for many of us!
Hugo aka Big H the only one who made it from Kentish Town, well done mate, you had the bestests overshoes!:)
Thomas the french guy thanks for crazy skidz and being super cool!
Alasdair's mate, sorry dont know your name – you were riding Specialized fixed, we shared many sprints and hill climbings, thanks for the CO2 when sorting out my puncture!
Paramounted well done for finishing first and touching the wrong statue (you had to shake Nelson's hand). The last sprint with shouting and filtering through crazy pedestrians and cars was unforgettable:)
Paweł dzienkuje bardzo for an interesting discussion with beers on the bench at Trafalgar Square!
Alasdair thanks for precision navigation and getting us too soon to the centre:) It was awesome to get lost together in a small group and then be reunited with rest of the riders the later! Fun talking at the finish about bike geometries and types of workout. 1 joule = 0.239005736 calories!) Glad you had the skillz to greet the car like a boss! It could have been much worse – http://goo.gl/3GMjRo
Much respect to my homebwoy Andrey (red, blue, yellow biek + red rain jacket) for stop being lazy unemployed eastern european and getting into the bike game! Kai from E8 for showing us where Hackney is, for the sprints, shouts and for taking time off just before work and holiday to do this massive ride fixed! Arnoldas the guy with heritage bike and yellow rims who unfortunately had to leave due to mechanical problems!
Thanks everybody who joined and finished the ride, it was truly an unforgettable an inspiring event!
It's a shame that out of so many people who signed up only 27 turned up!

Thank you guys for a amazing Saturday.

Garmin data: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/392727155. That's the one with a mistake (thanks to alasdair :D), so we've missed few boroughs. So what - it was still an amazing ride!
As you can see, Garmin shows energy consumption in kcal. Just to make it easier for "I won't argue but I'm sure that I'm right" I'm attaching kcal to kJ converter: http://www.unitjuggler.com/convert-energy-from-kcal-to-kJ.html :d
With that ride I've made my "cycle 200 km in one day" goal!. (http://50bpm.com/london-borough-spiral-ride-with-guys-from-lfgss-forum)

Fuck! When did that happen?! When you guys were on your 'detour'? That could have been grim...

Gutted to have missed this - looks like it was amazing. Congrats to everyone who made it...

Gutted I had to miss this, but had major home things to deal with. BUT, congrats and lots of chapeux to all who did it, especially Earthloop for conceiving and planning the whole crazy thing. Am totally 'In' for the next time. IMHO considering this takes in the majority of forumungers' boroughs, this ought to become a permanent fixture of the LFGSS calendar.
Anyway, well done to all who did it. The photos and videos are fantastic.

You guys are legends. -

Chapeau all.
Great ride. On for this next summer.

Not sure I'd want to do it in the summer. Even if the rain was a little depressing, ~18 hours in the sun wouldn't be much fun either.

• #463
top fucking work guys, I'm very impressed.

Colossal thanks to Nick for route design & organisation, Hugh for his kind attention to ride etiquette and all our Garmin leaders. Highlights were fast filtering on North Circular in rain to meet up with lead group, sunset on the ferry and final few miles to Trafalgar Sq. Good talking to many of you during the day and thanks for making my first forum ride so enjoyable. I was the one with hiviz backpack!

18 hours of sun over 3 days. Totally doable :-).

Well done to you all.
13mph is faster than I had thought it would be

hey hey hey. Fantastic ride, really enjoyable day and great to meet so many straight-up decent people. Whether it was talking about the merits of 320g forks, perving on that bianchi pista or speaking pigeon-Russian in trafalgar square, I enjoyed it all. Thanks guys for organising, and i look forward to seeing you all soon. Love, Rob xxxx

Here is the route including all the changes we made on the day, thanks to fasih's extensive knowledge of London and the guy who's name I've forgotten (sorry) who knows Finchley.

One slight difference: this route ends with a sprial into the official center of London at the statue of King Charles I, rather than with chasing drunk schoolgirls up Nelsons Column. Ridewithgps don't have an icon for that.

haven't read the whole thread but was there an official count of how many started and finished? gutted i missed this but was sunning myself on a deckchair in florida ;-)
-
• #470
Official centre of London there?
Yup. When road signs tell you the number of miles to London, the distance is measured to the site of The Charing Cross. The cross itself isn't there any more, the statue of King Charles I is in its spot.

Well done everyone! Fantastic effort.
Couldn't make yesterday but am going to attempt this sometime this week..
Were there any parts of the route that you'd change and does the GPX file work ok?The route that we rode has some improvements over the planned route, you're probably better off with that.

A combination of flowers and expensive Italian biscuits have finally placated the girlfriend this evening and so life goes on.
A tip for riders (or riders' other halves) who might wonder how long a ride such as this will take:
start with the usual time you might expect to ride 100kms in, double it, add 3 hours for delays (punctures, lost people, wrong turns), then another 4 hours contingency and you may be fairly close to the mark. -
• #473
Uber expensive flowers/biscuits combo then? :-)
-
• #474
Well done everyone, this ride looks epic. Maybe one day I'll attempt it myself (probably the same time when I convince myself that I can actually walk around the entire capital ring).

Thanks earth loop, had a really fun day. Nice eclectic bunch of riders held together by Hugh's experience and patience. The camarardery was the highlight for me, everyone mixed and chatted. You can keep North London though, I'm staying south :P
Big ups to everyone who participated and helped organise, especially Earthloop. Wicked day out and thanks to everyone for the laughs and food offerings. Was good riding through some old places, bringing back some good memories.
Highlights for me was going down the A312,
Going past a donkey in Fairlop/Hainault area,
DASin random cyclist/people along the way,
Stopping traffic by stopping in their lane and doing some skywalker-use-the-force manoeuvre (felt really like, yeah im part of a cycle club dance move),
Those epic so tired I'm in overdrive sprints especially the embankment tunnel sprints screaming one pound fish song.
Large up everyone who I managed to speak to as well, some quality banter and laughs were had. Im surprised there wasn't more pink spokes and njs frames etc.
Anyways this needs to be done again in the summer!
