  • I don't think you can order vinyl for decals in RAL colours - presuming that's what you meant.

How did it look Amey? Did it look like it had a 27.2mm seatpost successfully installed, and a BB that fitted properly?

Didnt see the BB part but yeah seatpost looks like its fitted properly, they did it for my GT too, the bore is epic also a great core workout.

Did you know that H LLoyd cycles have some of the original decals?

  • Just saying, good colour?

  • Did you know that H LLoyd cycles have some of the original decals?

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of those ones, and they don't match what was previously on the bike so I decided I'd rather have my own made up.

  • Seat tube reamed, BB threads re-cut, ready to roll. Apparently reaming the seat tube was a tough job, which suggests that lower down in the seat tube was tighter than 27.2mm. Still not sure about that mystery, but it takes a 27.2 now. At least, there's one in it now which I hopefully won't need to shift for a while. Chainline is spot on too.

Having an inline seatpost makes the fit feel much better, and the bars feel right, so perhaps I won't need the Piegas I ordered after all. Feels great, and should feel even better once I get the new wheels on there.

  • Looks great, but.... How will the new wheels feel better than ellipse?

  • Bar angle looks a bit off though. Besides that it's looking great!

Wider A23 rims apparently mean 23s feel like 25s.

At least, that's what the hype tells me.

Thanks! Swap for your new Mapei beast?

The bars might just be the photo angle, or possibly the fact that the RH lever wasn't clamped on tight enough and slipped down while I was riding the other day.

  • lovely!

  • Finished?

New saddle and new wheelset. Think I prefer the Ellipses in terms of aesthetics but these in terms of ride (and price).

  • Rattlecan the front, then we can talk. . Take a straight photo while you're at it.

  • I think I quite like the mismatched look. Makes it look cheaper so I feel better about locking it outside Sainsburys. This is why I don't HHSB.

  • My ugly biek thread >>>>>>>>>>

  • Ugly is a bit harsh perhaps.

  • I think it looks perfect for it's use. Good job tommmmm.

  • Looking at those two pictures, it definitely does look a lot better with the Ellipses. Maybe I should just keep them, sell these new ones and fit 25s and stop worrying.

Due to illness I still haven't been able to ride this as much as I'd have liked, so I haven't really fallen for it yet. Could still sell the fucker and just ride my Pompetamine more.

  • I'd run the ellipses I reckon, definitely look smarter.

    Don't sell it, too nice..

  • A friend of mine is gonna be selling a H+Son x GranCompe wheelset soon. Formation face on the rear, SL42 on the front.

  • How much?

  • Well that was an easy decision, the Halos are sold again, and I'll keep the Ellipses, fit some 25mm tyres, and brake on the front wheel till no-one wants it.

  • Looking good, Tommmmmm.
