  • No tandem, but I'll definitely split that two person ticket with you Dr. Cake!
Didn't know if I'd be about for this before the tickets stopped selling as a date hadn't been picked, but I'm definitely up for it now :)

  • So that's:

    1. hats
    2. T4
    3. mands
    4. cazakstan (on mands' + 1 voucher)
    5. Dr Cake
    6. KT Bee
    7. Nevil Troll
    8. Seraphinx (on Dr Cake's + 1 voucher)
  • Woop! Civilised sounds nice too, I have a 30th birthday to attend the night before so 9am sounds much more reasonable haha!

  • I'm all for civilised. I'm riding to Cambridge the day before ¬_¬

  • Would you guys mind if Mr Cake came along if we can secure a tandem? He said he'd be willing to chaperone me, which I'd like as I've been off the bike for 6 weeks (but that means he would need my extra ticket).

  • Tis your ticket to do what you will with!

  • Okay, due to logistic difficulties with obtaining a tandem and getting it to Hitchin, Mr Cake has opted to race 'cross in Luton on Sunday instead of manhandling some owls.

Therefore, my spare ticket is available Seraphinx, if you are still free.

As I've not been on a long ride on my bike at all in the last 6 weeks, I think what I'm going to do is be super lame and take the train all the way to Biggleswade and then just do the super short ride to the falconry place. Last thing I want to do is get 15 miles or so in and then realise that my ankle isn't going to hold out.

  • Trying not to be pleased about your logistics difficulties Dr. Cake, but it's very difficult.

    YAY OWL TOUCHING! :D

  • DC, that's absolutely fine. We can meet you at Biggleswade station and escort you to the owls.

Everyone else - let's meet at Kings Cross station at 8.40am on sunday, outside Leon on the main concourse.

  • We can haz GPX?

  • Erm, yes, we can... not today though - got particle physics shiz to sort out!

  • You are Prof Brian Cox AICMFP :D

  • Are we training back too?

  • Hello my little owlets.

    We can haz GPX?

    Yes, yes you can.

Suggestions welcome, I've tried to avoid main roads and hills.

    Are we training back too?

Up to you all I guess. I am tempted to ride to my parents house (25 miles north) for tea afterwards - anyone who fancies it is welcome to join me. My parents don't have any owls but they do have pet chickens.

  • Also, I just looked up #owlride on twitter and it looks like there's an imposter owl ride in Omaha! LET'S RECLAIM THIS HASHTAG.

  • Just a quick question, as my voucher is for 2 people, should I get in touch with the falconry place and update them on numbers?

  • I now have a spare place, if there are any prospective owl-touchers out without a ticket ...

  • Just a quick question, as my voucher is for 2 people, should I get in touch with the falconry place and update them on numbers?

I was going to say yes, but then this:

I now have a spare place, if there are any prospective owl-touchers out without a ticket ...

If anyone wants to touch owls and doesn't have a ticket then get in touch - if not then we're back at 7 people.

  • Actually, I might post it on the owls thread...

  • Hope you're all getting excited!! It's going to be a chilly day tomorrow so wrap up warm.

I think you all have my number but if you don't then PM me for it.

All garmins etc very welcome. I have made a TINY alteration to the route - just after mile 27 we go into Southill village rather than around it, but we're back on the original route at mile 29 so if you've already saved the route then don't worry about downloading a new version. Just don't be alarmed when I appear to suddenly veer off route!

    See you in the morning!

  • Have a lovely ride everyone!

  • Stupid tonsils, what are they for anyway?! :-( I got all ready and cycled half way to Kings Cross but I feel like death so it ain't going to happen! Had a wicked day and take lots of photos!

  • Wow your ride looks ace. Have fun.

  • ((Cazakstan))

  • What a lovely day! Thank you so much Hats and T4 for organising. As our ride back through London showed, everyone needs to touch more owls. A few pics - will be posting the rest on a daily basis in the owl thread so everyone can share in the owl joy
