Vouchers bought for me and sister - availability similar rubbish in Sept / Oct, but could always do a splitters ride. Very excited - thank you for finding, Hats!

  • The deal has now closed, let's get a date for this sorted! I've set up a doodle poll:

    http://doodle.com/ghnfief5gudrawax

  • Yes! Get involved, your pro owl noises need to be there!

  • Only three people have filled in the doodle poll so far!

Last week on holiday I got to touch quite a few owls (best holiday evah). Here I am with a Grey Owl called Bob:

    THIS COULD BE YOU!

  • I haven't filled in November yet, because I know I'm supposed to go to Liverpool at some point, but I'm not sure when!

Also, weekend of Oct 26/27 is a great one for spectating silly cyclocross races (Muddy Hell on the 26th, Supercross on the 27th) so would appreciate the ride not being that weekend (come heckle me as I roll around in the mud instead).

  • Just to add to the excitement, the last time I went to the groupon centre/offer place in Biggleswade a barn owl flew off into a nearby tree where it promptly caught and started eating a squirrel. In front of loads of children! Amazing. Nature: red in tooth and claw.

    Enjoy touching all the owls.

I look forward to muddy heckling :)

Wow! Barn owls are the business!

  • Guys, guys!! We have a date - 17th November!! It was the first weekend that they could do, and 5 of us have availability for that according to the doodle poll (Dr Cake - you don't have anything for November, but do you think you could make that?).

Please let me know ASAP if you can make this!

We have an afternoon flying session, so we can ride out as originally planned.

    Owl love to all.

  • Yes I think I can. I have a work away day on Nov 15, but hopefully it won't spill over to the weekend.

  • I've put the date in my diary!

  • Win!

  • Yep. It's in the diary!

  • Damnit, I didn't buy a voucher because I thought you'd be going when I was away, but I'll be back then! Boooo :(

  • Is this the same thing?

    This might still be available

  • Wooo!

Beware of using owls in wedding ceremonies.

  • Well, I told my physio that I definitely wanted to be back on my bike for this ride, and she said she thought that would be possible, but as I've been off my bike for about a month, I might not be up to doing the whole distance at a fair speed, would it be possible to knock up a route so that I can see if there is a station I can meet you at part way?

  • Dr C - I've knocked up a provisional route and have sent it to Hattie to have a look at. Might recce it this weekend. It's just under 90k and pretty flat. Passes through/near Cheshunt, Hoddesdon, Stevenage, Letchworth Garden City.
I'll let you know when I've heard back from Hattie.

  • Wonderful, thanks muchly :)

  • hey hey. have you guys booked in or whatever it is you have to do?
I've not yet, sorry! I should right?

  • Twit-twoo!! I have booked us all in - 7 of us.

The owl touching starts at 1, so we should aim to get there at 12.30. That would mean a super early start from London... like leaving before 7am.

I think it might be better/more civilised to get a train from Kings Cross to Hatfield (20 mins) and ride from there (30 miles).

This means we could leave Kings Cross at 9am. Much more civilised. And nicer riding too as we'd avoid the getting-out-of-London bit.

    Thoughts?

  • +1 for CIVILISED!
(and yes I live in Kings Cross...)

  • Happy for the train out. I was going to have to do that anyway, given the dodgy ankle.

Also, I just realised that the ticket I got was for 2 people. Any last minute takers?

Maybe someone can tandem me? heh

  • would totally tandem with you...don't have a tandem though
