  • I seem to fall in the 5% whose post box isn't large enough.

Had to trek a mile to the sorting office to collect it there, some 3 days later.

    Think I'll be cancelling.

I wonder if Pact ask those who cancel why they do so. For me it's simply that a 17cm post box doesn't take the Pact envelope and the post office trek makes it more inconvenient than convenient.

Shame, as the coffee is pretty damn good.

  • Delivery to office?

Got mine in the post today, its not that big a parcel. Sure you don't just have a lazy postman making excuses?

  • Still haven't got mine :((

  • Wasn't much bigger than hasbean parcel?

I checked... my letterbox is 17cm wide, just over 18cm at a push (diagonal).

The Pact envelope is 21.5cm wide.

  • Great coffee.
I like the company so far...

One simple bit of feedback though.
It would be great if you could pause the service for less then one month.
Currently you can only pause for 30days, which is a bit much.
I get one 250g bag a week and will probably get through 90% of it before the next bag arrives.
Ideally I would be able to pause the service for one week every now and then so I miss one delivery and have time to catch up.

I don't know why I am putting this here, barking my opinion into the uncaring abyss.
    I'll email them>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • They're reading the thread from time to time.

  • I've got mine on it's way, excited to try.
I don't really have time for much coffee at home so will also end up pausing regularly as the first bag will prob last me nearly a month.

  • I'm with VB on the postbox size - ours is angled down at too much of a rake for the pack to fit. Shame - the coffee tasted good. Envelope needs to be more... flaccid.

  • I also have the postbox problem, mine is 14cm x 5cm, it's the original Victorian door which was obviously made pre-Amazon.

They should learn from the contact lenses by post people, they use long narrow packages which have always fitted through any postbox I've ever had.

  • No postbox problems for me - just had first cup of the El Salvador this morning and it was brilliant - not sure I drink coffee often enough to go for a subscription model but this tasted good enough to tempt me...

  • I received a couple of bags of coffee over the weekend as a sorry for the mix up on a gift order that I made. Top marks for customer services.

  • How long is this likely to run for?

I'm tempted but I'll probably be going away soon so I'm umming and ahhing about when to pull the trigger.

  • For a few more weeks at least.

You could do it and then enjoy the first batch and put it on pause such that when you come back the coffee arrives at the same time.

  • Espresso blend arrived - very nice indeed. Brazilian previous delivery also good. Will be continuing with the subscription. Am happy. And buzzing.

  • delicious coffee but a bit too pricey for me to keep up the subscription long term. is it possible to just buy one off bags of coffee rather than constantly pause and unpause? also, I seriously cannot understand how anyone would have a problem fitting the envelope in their letter box. it's so small! lots of normal post must not fjt as well?

  • Had a bag undelivered for a while until I realised I had it sent to work instead of home... Retarded of me, but the customer service from Pact was top notch. Emailed them at 10.30 at night, had a reply within 9 minutes!

Had the espresso blend first. Tasted nicely, but not dark / strong (I don't speak tasting notes, sorry) enough for me, at least not through an aeropress (10 seconds stirring, 20 seconds wait, 20 second plunge). Got the Brazil Rodomunho coming up after their recommendation, looking forward to try it.

Sometimes mine gets through, sometimes it doesn't. I think it may depend on the postie.

I know what you mean - the roast was quite 'light' to me (I'm no expert) - with the aeropress, I find I'm leaving it for at least a min, sometimes more and getting better results

  • went through the bag too quickly to try, but will give it a go with my current bag of Monmouth

  • I'm trying the El Salvador at the moment. That's a bit light for me too, I'm having to make it pretty bloody strong to get a really satisfying flavour, especially in this cold, drizzly weather. Any recommendations for something a bit darker and more chocolately as we go into winter?

  • That's what I asked them (part from the chocolaty bit), and they suggested the Brazil Rodomunho. Ping them an email, i'm sure they'll get back to you quickly

  • I found the El salvador one too light and lacking punch, the Rodomunho one is a lot nicer though.

Left it for 45secs this morning, made quite a difference. Does the amount of water make a big difference too?

  • As a starting point I'd recommend 16g coffee, 240ml filter water at 90deg, pour all water in, stir well, seal top, leave for 1 min, stir again and press over 30 secs. Stop as soon as you hear the hiss.

Edit: Just realised you're talking about espresso-style coffee, I've never tried that in the AP. The above is for filter-style which is where the AP shines.
