I reckon 20mm carbon tubs would look the bollocks, with some gumwall tubs of course.
How practical are tubs for training / winter use? (serious question, if anybody uses them for this...)
I've never used them, but I imagine they're a pain to fix when they puncture, which is why I decided on clinchers. -

why not just match the colour to the existing track frame, saving a bit of character and £ at the same time?
I'd like matching decal schemes, but I'd also like two bidons without the seat tube bosses getting in the way of the decal
Could you not have two downtube Roberts decals on either side, so having a bottle cage won't be a problem then? I thought that was how it was traditionally done
I could.... but it would still be a respray, so it wouldn't help save me any character or £.
In terms of respray options, I just preferred the paired-down look of a seat tube crest over the written logo. -

I've never used them, but I imagine they're a pain to fix when they puncture.I started using tubs about two years ago and I am a big fan. Obviously the gluing and mounting is a hassle, but once you've done a few, repairing punctures is not a big deal.
The best thing for me is how easy it is to deal with a puncture on the road - peel off the old tub, put the spare on and add some air. I might be kidding myself, but I feel that the general ride quality is also superior compared to similarly priced clinchers.
All my bikes are on tubs, from that Roberts down to a fixed beater, and it hasn't caused me headaches or extreme spending. -

Would the Record Titanium Seatpost be an option? It is silver which would match the rest of the components on the frame and also looks similar in design to the Record Carbon Seatposts.
Record titanium would be perfect, but pricey.
I also considered going full Grammo:If only they weren't so rare and expensive...
Chorus carbon comes up every now and again at OK prices... and personally I like how they look. I even considered getting the Uno / Condor version and saving myself a load of money and time:http://www.condorcycles.com/Seat-Posts/8141-Condor-Uno-Carbon-Seatpost/flypage.tpl.html?pop=0

Everything's relative.

Does the old glue keep working for the new tyre? Or do you have to re-glue at the roadside?
How do you carry the spare, btw? -
• #61
The glue on the rim and a pre-glued tub are tacky enough to stay put, though you don't want to be pushing it hard. Re-glue when back at home
Spare goes folded under the saddle held in place by a toe-strap or something similar

I use 19's as spares
This was my Dunwich Dynamo setup:
More normal rides (with a pump in with the tyre):

If I'm doing it then it must be seriously uncool.
I really need to photograph both together.

Yes please. Yours are custom aren't they?
My career choice will not be permitting this any time soon, but when I win at Bingo I'll head straight for Croydon. Thanks ncjlee for posting about tubs: I'm still not convinced they're for me, but it's interesting nonetheless.
As far as everything else is concerned, I think I've found some cranks (Chorus) and levers (carbon Centaur) for the road bike... just have to sell some other stuff to pay for them.Still undecided about seatposts.
Ribble are selling 50t 165 pista chainsets at the moment (usual tooth limit on 165 seems to be 49t), so if anyone is interested in buying the 170 cranks from my track bike please let me know... I also have 46t, 50t and 51t chainrings to go with them. If I can get £180 for all of it then I can afford the new cranks. I've also sold the Unicanitor (to Unicanitor), so the track bike pull-apart has officially started anyway... back to a Rolls for the meantime.
Oh, and I also a 90mm 1a and some Giro d'Italia bars going... should start an advert, but won't get round to that for a couple of days yet.

Not much to report at the moment, I'm afraid.
Got brifters, chainset and BB from JonathanNettles for the road bike.
Track bike now has a shit seatpost, black Rubinos and a Flite.Resprays next, then rebuilds.
I'll need a new front mech, track cranks, a couple of headsets and some cables / bar tape to get them both rolling. -
