@hippy Howard is a local round here, he still promotes a couple of local TTs and is always very friendly and helpful to chat to. He's a shockingly fast slvlss too!
I've not read it yet, so don't know if it's of any interest but I just found this: http://www.oxfordcityrc.fsnet.co.uk/LEL2005/

the organiser should just partner up with local McDonalds to provide faster, cheaper, bigger and more tasty food next time - agreed a fellow rider from Texas.

First collection of thoughts from me in some of the things I did in 2015 that I missed out on doing in 2011. Great ride and I can not wait until 2019 to do it again (but in a different way).

Excellent, good write up Marcus.
A plan is forming in my head now for 2019. MiniGB will be 9 years old, perfect age for a mini cycle tour to Paris over the summer holidays...
Thu: Train (with bikes) to Newhaven, ferry to Dieppe
Fri->Sun: 3 day ride to SQY (via Avenue Vert), I go off to register/bike-check/etc
Mon: Start ride (6am on the 84h). Leave family to mess about in Paris for 3 days
Thu: 6pm cut off for 84h finish, drink, back to hotel, eat/drink, slump
Fri-Sat: Continue recovery, yomp about in Paris
Sun->Tue: 3 day ride to Dieppe
Wed: Ferry and train home
Thu: Back to workEither a hotel or something like Huttopia in Versailles.

Isn't there a Sydney - Darwin - Perth - Sydney ride that you could do in the interim?

The UAF (splitters) PBP is next year. They run on a 5 year cycle.
UAF is a not the "allure libre" style of Audaxing. Instead of being able to go at your own pace you ride in a peloton to a strict schedule (usually around 22.5kph) with designated lunch/sleep stops.
So almost definitely not for you, but someone may be interested. Your fellow strine Dave M does both PBPs (including the double last year).

But, no, not really. I was planning on going back for my second xmas in 10 years but then I got another DVT and my brother moved and stuff so I lost interest in the whole idea. Plus it's fecking expensive any way you cut it.

What is this? There's an audax splinter group in France?
What does 'allure libre' mean? Speakadaeeegliss?
"strict schedule" = I'm out. Ah, I see you worked that out already :)
"The opportunity to ride two PBPs in a single year is an intriguing prospect to some cyclists." = Back in.

'allure libre' = free pace, it's what 'Randonneuring' is compared to the strict/original "Audax". More info if you read up to 1921 here: http://www.aukweb.net/aboutauk/history/
The next time the ACP and UAF PBP's coincide will be 2035.

And let's face it, with your shiny British passport and your life here, you are a Londoner and no longer an Aussie. Any trace of Strine will soon be eradicated completely #NoLongerOkker

I've got a 100mi TT coming up then off to Spain, then straight to Poland and then October is pretty empty but I'm going back to the US to race the 24hr Worlds again in November. I'll try and fit in my RRtY rides when I can. Unlikely I can fit in a second trip to the USA this year but you never know..
Does the Taste of Carolina happen every year? Have you ridden it?
$500 entry is getting a bit steep
Argh.. so many options!

Never heard of it before, was just looking at upcoming long rides on http://rusa.org/
Rocky Mountain 1200 is due to be run again in 2016 if there's enough interest. A few Brits have been over to ride that, including the nutter that is Pat Hurt doing it on fixed: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1392508

Another one. I could hit this before heading to my parent's house and eating everything they own.

Nah, I shocked some Aussie bird in a pub the other day when I told her I'd been here 10 years.
I'm an Aussie (a stubborn one at that) with a spare passport.

"Expect temperatures as low as 2°C (36°F) at night"
Out. I get enough of that shite over here. ;)
Looks interesting but is probably too close to TransAm to bother with. Assuming of course TransAm happens.
Funnily enough the one and only time I've met Howard was outside that F1 hotel in Plaisir 4 years ago. Blimey, is it only 4 years since then!
Do it. Once you move past the distance you can do without sleep (24h TT or a 600km Audax) it's just a series of days separated by (not as much as you'd like) sleep. Now you know you can wake up after just a few hours sleep and do another 20h day on the bike then you just have to keep doing that for as long as it takes.
I'll be looking for 99h59 in 2017, which is fast for me.
