There must be a way, product not fit for purpose, have you threatened them with trading standards/legal procedures?
Did you pay with a Visa?
-
• #55
yeap.
-
• #56
TM, partially, partially with paypal - first time in the long time I have not used VISA and now I regret it.
comes to worst Ill get half of the money back.
will complain to TS and get a case going with small claims court as well.

Would have hoped Visa and Paypal would have you covered between them. Have you contacted them both?
Is it worth getting the frames "shortcomings" publicised further?
What a shit position to be put in.
-
• #58
Website has said that for longer than that afaik
Have searched Web and am yet to find anything else negative about them. Only positive.

Murakami, can you point me where this site says that campagnolo record pista should not be used?

TM, paypal position is that since I have cut the seat tube they cannot help and advised me to contact my bank / Visa people. they agreed that its wrong but 'cannot help'

Hey relax man, I simply pointed out that I can't find anything else negative about them. I made no comment on your experience. This isn't a situation like other manufacturers where there's multiple complaints made. If you want to take an implication from it that's fine, so far we have only your side of the story and no photos yet either.
Any forum debate about them I have found does seem to be about the time trial bike though and someone else must have bought a track bike from them and can give their experience.

Tomder, as it's looking increasingly like you're not having any luck with your refund how about posting up some pics of your setup and how your heel is striking the stays? Some of the brains on here may be able to come up with a working solution. As has been mentioned before, STE5 has the same frame (though as RPM says, could have been a change from a different batch) and doesn't have the any issues so there may be a way around it.

thanks guys Ill wait for adr response and will take appropriate action.
sorry Murakami, didnt mean to be rude mate.
Tricky Business, to be frank I dont think I want to make this frame work, I have 'lost my heart' for it if you know what I mean.
Legally I think since they do not state components 'known to not to work with the frame' I am in the win.
Part of my issue is the quality of their customer services or rather lack of it. Meaning I want to be done with it as if anything happen in the future I would have to talk to them again and I do not want to.

I agree that the first impression is good. That was why I have decided to get that frame. People seem to be pleased and happy with them ... well there is one who isnt.
unfortunate position, bad news travels 7 times faster than a good one and this will not help them.
From business perspective if I was them I would take the frame back because it is not worth to deal with someone like me and fight it...

Tom afaik - there is usually a white layer between the laquer / paint and the actual monocoque carbon. Primer probably.
-
• #66
that white stuff is 'inside' it actually looks like a plastic pipe
-
• #67
Surely crank lengths shouldnt come into it tho, I was down the track tuesday and someone was trying cranks 165 to 175 on his DF3.
It should give you the choice really.

Strange choice of words. Coincidence?

I've screen shotted it just in case....

As said above, afaik it has said this since Tom first asked about it. I could be wrong though.

Thanks for sharing, I learned something new about geometry and heel strike.

Sorry to de-rail slightly but I didn't want to start a new wheel a v wheel b thread...but, Planet X have the AL30 D wheel set and Dolan are selling the Navigator Street both of which are £120. Does anyone have any thoughts on their suitabilty as a general commuter wheel set?
Both are 32 hole and the Nav's are fixed / free and I think the PX are fixed but can be used SS with BMX freewheel.

Of all the threads to derail with a budget wheel question, you chose one comparing 2 top end track frames which had resulted in a dissatisfied customer stuck with an unusable frame?
In answer to your question though I would buy the Navigator Pista clinchers, as I think machined brake surfaces are ugly.

...sorry and thanks. I saw the A versus B thread title and jumped in head first without checking.

No need to apologise to me! Just thought it was an odd thread choice.
read other posts they have all the details.
OK, my point?
used campagnolo pista set of BB (carbon 111mm) cranks 165mm and pedals (titanium) - as I always do - you may like them or not but they are designed for track and work in all my other bikes. sidi ergo (3 I think) carbon shoes
cleats were positioned by the fitting guys so I am not going to move them (in a matter of fact I did for the test but it didnt help).
BB in , cranks in - there is a clearance from the frame and all looks ok (well thinking again you potentially would notice how wide stays go but at the time I didnt).
clip in ... cannot pedal
what we did?
used longer (road) BB added washed on the pedal spindle to distance from the cranks and moved cleats.
that didnt solve it.
the same setup was fine in the cinelli , carvelo t3, ridley
once someone tell my why it was fine there isnt here and provide with senseble technical explanation why I should accept it ... fine.
my point at present is that originally adr told me to bagger off now after going harder with them they 'test' this setup - but I dont want this frame.
clearly it is a design fluke as track specific components dont work there.
how they could fix it? well once they take the frame back they can list compatible component on the website stating that other parts may not work.
otherwise customer like me is stack with finding out an idea how to make it work and what? buying countless number of cranks BB's and other stuff?
meaning what ? that I will spend £700 on the frame and £2k on the parts ? just to make it work? because seller didnt bother to test?
come on...
