I've got some rotor track cranks on the way and on the off-chance that they actually turn up sometime within the next century Id like to make sure I have all the tools I need to fit them. Does anyone know what kind of BB spanner will work with the rotor BSA30 cups? Velotech sell a rotor branded spanner but I don't really want to shell out £30 when a generic one will do the job.

The BSA30 cups need a special Rotor BB spanner - a standard Hollowtech/GXP one won't work as it's too small. The bottom bracket I bought came with a spanner, however.

C_K you can borrow mine, I have a BSA30 spanner

^^Thanks for the info danstuff. So you got a spanner with your bottom bracket? Thanks for the offer Amey, I've got the cranks and bottom bracket on the way from velotech so hopefully the spanner will be included, if not then I'll give you a shout.

Well, that's what the advert said, although to be honest I haven't checked - all those parts have gone into a big box for later. I'll have a check next time I'm in close proximity to the big box of bits.

If you paid the inflated £45 for the BB (which I did) you will get the spanner.

It's the same spanner as Hollowtech.
I'll check in a second.

^That would surprise me.

I used a shimano external bb tool, works perfectly well. Jamie, I'll call Rotor on Monday to chase things.

^Thanks rob, that would be amazing, I've had them on order since the beginning of August!

I checked, the Rotor BSA is their own tool, the Rotor track is the generic Shimano/Campag.

^that would make sense.

Rotor track BB:
Hi guys and gals, was just wondering if anyone knows if the rotor track crankset is compatible their ceramic BB?
Steel BB:
Ceramic BB:
Thanks.

Last year when trying to find a replacement BB for rotor track cranks was told that the only one that fits is the track one. So if the ceramic BB is made for road cranks my guess is that it won't fit.

Velotech state twice, and in RED CAPS, that the track cranks require the track BB.
There is a ceramic track BB though. Also...you could consider swapping the bearings between track BB and ceramic road BB should you already own them. The bearing spec is probably the same.

I'm hoping that the bearings in the track BB shells can be pressed out and fresh ones pressed in, otherwise it's annoyingly expensive.

Cheers guys, I was thinking as they're both 24mm cups, that were was the possibility that the cups would be compatible to the track crankset.

My rotor track BB is totally gubbed after Rapha 500... Any one got a second hand one kicking about?

Would anyone be so kind as to lend me their rotor BB spanner? Really hoping to get the new cranks installed this weekend.

Which BB?
-

^The track bb, is it not the same spanner for all of them? Or is dammit right and the track one can be installed with a standard shimano spanner?

.
If its track you need the 24mm standard spanner.

Cool, no need to borrow any spanners then.

Strange with the new Rotor 3D24 Track Cranks, from what I've seen online so far they only have it 170mm plus, is there a reason why there is no 165mm?
They seem like cervelo branded ones minus the logo: http://forums.cervelo.com/forums/t/9463.aspx
