Also on a ride I did with some SEs last year we got absolutely soaked by torrential rain before East Hanningfield, then tried to stop there for some lunch, but they told us all the tables were full when they clearly weren't, so I'm still a bit pissed off with them about that.

This was so uncool, the bastards. The pub that we ended up going to instead was ok though, I think? I recall spending quite some time crouched under the hand dryer trying to dry myself.

I wish my Genesis could be finished in time for this. I'm not sure if I should bring my road bike or put my rack on my track and risk my knee playing up.

This looks really cool, wish I was fit enough / well enough to do it. (Plus I also have a birthday cake to bake on Sunday).

Yup, we'll stop at the Windmill Tavern as we did last time. However, that time they were really slow getting food out. I don't expect we'll have time for food ordering, so I'd strongly recommend bringing your own food and not relying on the pub for lunch.
