  • clockwise, you have demonstrated withered preacher's point very well. )

if it was wet/oily sandwich, for eg. then that nutrition on the road would be smashed to pieces.

seriously, is there any other way then to keep the fast track foods fresh for longer?

  • 1 teaspoon BCAA powder
    2 teaspoons maltodextrin
    1 1/2 nuun

    In 750ml bidon of water.

    Seems to work.

Still need the odd Clif bar or whatever. But that definitely keeps me ticking over.

  • Looking up random pages about the DD and found these. Dunno if the blogs owner is on here but if they are thanks for the ideas. Not enough time to do a test run and make something and won't risk making something new and exciting and being sick while riding but plenty more rides to follow.

  • I quite like those Bounce protein balls. They're small and tasty and fit easily in your pocket and have like 200 cals in them each, AND they'll upset hippy by not being carbs.

Actually, I've eaten those before. They're pretty pointless during a ride (unless you're slow and weight lifting at the same time) and they're fucking expensive if you buy them from Pod. Like £1.80 for some squished nuts. fkn healthy eating jokers

  • Tasty, though. Maybe I could make my own by mixing peanut butter together with that whey powder stuff and egg whites or something. And cheese, adding cheese would make your head explode. And bacon. Cheese and bacon go with peanut butter, right?

  • Don't forget the avo

  • n=1, it worked for me so I don't give a fuck. Licks National Champ trophy.

    I'm not middle-aged, I'm big boned.

    Works With Danish salami.

    So probably.

  • You need gels and 'scientific' pseudofood if you are exercising flat out for over 90 minutes.
For more normal, touring-type riding, eat normal foods at normal mealtimes, with CAKE between meals, eg elevenses and tea-time.
Don't attempt to climb a big hill with a stomach full of greasy food.
Chocolate has a very narrow useful temperature range; it will either melt, or freeze tooth-breakingly solid on your ride, so eat immediately after purchase or give it a miss. Yeasty teacakes are good fuel to keep in your bag, as is Soreen malt loaf. Yazoo or Frijj milk drinks can be good after long distances.
Pseudofoods are usually best left in the shop.

A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips left hand.
    ;-)

  • I have been taking a baggie of rice and raisins with me on rides to eat. We always seem to have it in our house so it is available. The rice is brown though so it doesn't really match hippy's simple-carbs-only approach.

  • tuppwerware is a very good idea. interesting fact about them, their seals actually expel air keeping foods fresh for longer. but some people, few of my friends, dislike keeping food in plastic containers cause they think somehow food takes on the taste of plastic.

It does, for plastics like polyethylene, which partly dissolves in fats in the food.
    Harder plastics don't do this.

  • It's why (when i was in catering) I was told to use foil for wrapping fatty foods, never cling film.

  • Wrapping up meaty filled bagels/rolls.

Grease proof paper, tin foil, cling film, other?

  • That's clearly "Keith".

  • Plastic sandwich cases, foil, greaseproof paper. Hard plastic box.

  • Hello Kitty lunchbox.

  • Best thing I can advise is that in the three or four days leading up to the ride is to eat normally, drink a reasonable amount of fluids and avoid things that will dehydrate you such as getting pissed...
...or drinking loads of coffee. If you need a caffeine kick to keep you going, try to save it up for towards the end of the ride, so you really feel the benefits of it hitting your bloodstream in the wee (sorry) small hours.
