Out of interest who told you that Hy/Rd was available now?
-
• #54
A man at TRP.
I phoned them up.... you can buy them on their website right now as long as you want them in black.
-
• #55
Any chance of a link? Is that in the US?
I thought Upgrade Bikes was the UK distro?
I'm after Spyres but could be persuaded to go hydro/cable hybrid.

If you select 140 or 160mm in black, they'll let you add then to cart and they're shipping today.
It's $20 or $40 to ship depending on how quickly you want them to arrive...

Import duty...urrgh.
Anyhooo Spyres available end July apparently.

You should wait, sucks right now, but will be worth it.

I know... Just annoyed.
I only have this and the BMC which means the BMC is never clean at the moment. It's making me sad.

Still no sign of the Hylex coming into stock....
For those that are interested though, the HY/RDs are now in stock at upgrade bikes: http://shop.upgradebikes.co.uk/Catalogue/Brakes/Disc/HY-RD

Not really on-topic, but my Retroshift levers+MTB BB7+Hope floating 160mm discs are working perfectly.

that's £109 per wheel right?

Yup.... plus cables, plus levers etc.
-
• #64
thats a little pricier than V twin, whats the advantage over V twin? neatness?
-

Not having to bleed the things. Easier cable routing / sizing. Not requiring hoze clips.

^^No converter box needed as the hydro mechanism is self contained in the caliper itself. road.cc said that its the best road disc braking they've experienced from any solution, including hydro converter boxes... That was before SRAM Red hydro was released though.
I will be investing in Hy/Rd when my custom frame eventually is complete.

Good review, thanks for mentioning that.

Fair enough, I am living in the comfort of the fact that it is not available to buy ;) Otherwise it'll be a pricey upgrade #2 for me. #1 being internal battery and all that shit.
EDIT: I had emailed upgrade bikes they said that they received a shipment 2 days ago but its all pre-sold. Next shipment is end of Aug/beginning of Sept.

Apparently they'll be at Condor tomorrow. Exciting!

Anyone got the necessary things to bleed hydraulic brakes?
-
• #74
Why do you need to bleed them is that not a bled system ready to mount? If you're just shortening the hose you should be able to do it without introducing air to the system. Along the lines of; take hose off caliper/lever (will depend on the specific system) - cut to length with good, sharp, clean blade - put new olive &/or barb on hose and reattach to caliper. The manual should have instructions, I would have thought, those are based on my Maguras.

Feeding it through the frame without introducing air to the system is going to be tricky though I'd have thought?

I know how it feels man, but the wait is/will be worth it :)
