Hah, that was a special moment.
Good to put some - more - names to faces, thanks for the ride, gents. That route was amazing.
Assume Rod Munch made it home OK despite a slightly broken bike?

• #1453
Yes thanks Howard - despite the mechanical the ride back was a lot nicer than the ride out! I was
tucked up in bedstuffing my face by midnight...And yes, that is a lovely route - thanks for leading BMMF...

Hope it’s an easy and relatively cheap fix in the mech department. Sorry we all had to rush off to the platform unceremoniously.
The roads are generally in excellent condition out there, so it’s always a surprise when you suddenly rumble over a rough patch and bits of bike and/or accessories break or fall off. Seemed to be quite a bit of that last night.

I'll echo the rest in saying that's a cracking route and great leading, thanks BMMF. And thanks Des for being a total gent and taking one for the team. Owe you one.

bumped into ludwig this morning and he was still smiling from last night's ride which he confessed to spending most of it drafting scarlett.
really wanted to be able to make this. i rode out of hemel last friday and was reminded of the original route and the fact there are some great lanes out there, and that scarlett has the knack of finding the best of them.

We’ll have to arrange a senior citizens' / elders' edition soon. Maybe just get a mini-bus and kit it out with a wheelchair lift and child seats? That should have us all covered.

We'll need a creche.

• #1459
Last week on BMMF's birthday exploration of this route, we all piled on the first train.
I wouldn't like to do that again.
did i miss this?

Haha, if that was a subtle piece of self-deprecation.
Maybe just add booster seat to the original list. That should be enough for you.

I really enjoyed the ride last night and it was great to meet up with you all. I'm glad that the train was delayed long enough for me to make it.
Does anyone have a gpx file of the ride I can swipe - my Garmin seemed to have stopped halfway through.
Thanks for organising & leading, BMFF.

Maybe. I didn’t PM that many people when I was scrabbling around for numbers, especially those currently riding around in circles. People just have to watch the thread really.

@TW2, can’t you just grab it from the original link? -
• #1464
I was going to stitch it to the file that I do have so that it looks as though I did the complete ride. I always feel like I'm missing out if I don't record all of my mileage and times (vaguely) accurately.
Strava changed its API so it's no longer possible to download other people's rides, otherwise I would just take one of those.

You were definitely there. I’m happy to be a witness in court.

I am not only riding in circles. I was the night before, and was in Kent the night after with Jay and Dov. I don't really look at this thread much.

I got a secret special pm, that because of some strange alignment of the stars, I was able to respond in the positive.

I give up with GRPT people generally. They’re creatures of immovable habit, unless there’s a massive entry fee and a free gel involved.
-
• #1470
Next week’s TNRC: £25 entry (includes free gel) plus train fare. Unfortunately the organiser is unable to provide tedious roads in poor condition with heavy traffic and saturated with dangerously inexperienced cyclists.

fuck off. Pretty much. The only thing I've paid for entry to that wasn't a race or TT in the last 2 years is Flanders.

”generally"
Calm down, dear. Did you not get your free gel in Flanders?

Don't generalise.
There were no gels, only sausages.

I did not eat them.
You’re selfish, and you have a stupid hat!
