Great ride last night. Thanks scarlet for doing such a fine job on the front and leading us out at such a good pace. At one point it felt like we were all in some crazy video game blasting through the downhills only inches apart dodging potholes and a dead fox at one point!
Definitely going to be doing this ride again.
Also agree with your comments re coming equipped to tnrc with adequate lighting and provisions in case u need to bail. We're all grown ups now!P.s. Ludwig Has some insane knowledge of the cols in the alps as i dont think he stopped talking about them for the duration of the journey back!

Was indeed great riding with you and everybody else. Chapeau for being on fixed as well.

So, given this was an out of phase TNRC are we having one this Tuesday or are we re-phasing the fortnights from now?

Don’t ask me. Srsly. I’m done for the year.
Good luck with the rest of the ‘season’.

Next week’s TNRC: £25 entry (includes free gel) plus train fare. Unfortunately the organiser is unable to provide tedious roads in poor condition with heavy traffic and saturated with dangerously inexperienced cyclists.
Even if we discount it to £15 and include 2 free gels? I'm sure we can work on providing some the other stuff too.

I've got some gels we could dish out

I've got a few left over from Sunday's jaunt. Really don't get on with the things, more ends up on my handlebars and jersey pocket than goes in my gob. And they are the stickiest thing known to man, srsly, you could hang wallpaper with that stuff, and I mean the full on 1980s Indian restaurant flock wallpaper. Took me 5 minutes to prise myself off the bike at the end.
Fuck gels, if I do one of those things again my "nutrition plan" is scampi and chips and a bitter shandy in a nice pub garden about two thirds of the way round.

You just need to find some that work for you. Torq are yummy. Powerbar are ok too.
I try not to use them too much, but they are worth having for emergencies. -

Fuck gels
They would make a change from the usual sugary offerings, I guess. -
• #1486
Fuck jelly? Isn't that Scarlett's thing?

Any thoughts on this? Would be up for riding this tuesday if that's the plan

Some hills would be nice. Back to basics? Five hills? List up when I get near an actual computer, unless anyone has any better ideas.

Sorry I'm still in dissertation/stats hell here. Will these still be going on in mid September? I've got two weeks of hard graft then two weeks holiday.

We usually carry on to the end of October, weather dependent.

Any thoughts on the end of season drinks yet? Short ride and long pub stop or just pub?
-
• #1497
think i'm out on this one :-(
had a bit of a niggle on the outside of the right knee (the ligaments part) from my ride yesterday so cycling in this morning wasn't pain free. I'll bring my stuff but it's likely i'll have to sit to one side on this one unfortunately.

pondering the +3170ft (!), reckon that's an extra 1000 or so on the Chilterns!
liking the early train departure time..

Its quite wooded, not many open vistas.
Its hard, I did it (albeit riding 20 miles out and back) on gears and remember thinking at the time 'is this really do-able fixed?', lots of long descents too which is possibly less fun than the climbs tbh
Instagram photos are a lot bigger than I thought.
