Last week on BMMF's birthday exploration of this route, we all piled on the first train.
I wouldn't like to do that again.

Piling on the first train.

Thank you. I always agree with Chalfie. I am out of that first train then.

Looking forward to this. I could make it to Euston for the earlier train but would struggle to get there much before about 1850, happy to aim for that train if it helps.
-
• #1431
I'll definitely not be able to make it there before 7pm
-
• #1432
I can make it to Euston for 6:30 and the early train if there is a four
-
• #1433
I can definitely make it there for 630 to queue for a group save, would be happy to take either train.
-
• #1434
I'll be there by 6:45 and take one of your tickets. If we get a 4 before the 19:04 all well and good, otherwise we can take the later one and see how it goes.

I suppose we could float the option of an early 19h04 GS4. Anyone particularly keen to get in the queue for tickets at 18h30 to that effect, with 3 companions? I can probably make it down there for that time if 3 others are definitely up for it...
will attempt to make it to Euston for 6.30 - recall the station surrounds being quite pleasant;
else, will be there in time for the later departure..

Dan, could I also leap on your GS? Will arrive about 1850 with plenty of change!
-
• #1437
i will be there before 7 as well as i'll be coming straight from work. so i can get the 7.04

Added train times. Not sure there's a whole lot of point with most people getting on the 19.04?
TNRC Tues 6/8: Hemel Hemstead Reprise - "Pitches and Hoes"
Train out from Euston: 19:24
Return : 22:25/37/53, 23:47.A new BMMF production - tried and tested 34 miles, some draggy climbs, rolling lanes, flat plains, etc. First time out with a larger group for this one, so it'll be a follow the leader type affair.

As explained upthread, after the reccy last week, we decided it was best to avoid the 19h04 en masse for various reasons. Des’s suggestion was for 4 only to take it, to lessen the load on the 19h24 (which should be slightly less of a commuter-squeeze).
So, the first 4 can get the 19h04 if they wish. Any other early arrivals, wait for the next one, please.

I can happily delay and do train 2, seems there's plenty of interest in the first one

Euston ticket office social, :-)
would offer to bring some beers, but perhaps that would be a little silly!

Aaaaaaagggghh. Bloody work. Am out I'm afraid, many apols for the last minute-ness
-
• #1445
I missed the train at 19:24
But I'm on the same train at 19:36, because it was delayed

If anyone up there ^ is reading this, and is on the 19:24, I'll see you at Hemel - I'm all the way at the rear of the train

That was a really good ride. Thank you Scarlett. The problem with the tube I find is that you can not run red lights.

Yes, very enjoyable, and quite mellow out there tonight. Thanks to Des for shepherding his guest (sort of) to Tring or back to Hemel. I’m out of practice leading these things, and in the past I would’ve put my foot down at the station, before a ticket was even purchased. We’re going to have to go back to some of the old ways regarding permission to ride a TNRC. It’ll be better for everyone. To summarise:
- no list (or even vague on-thread announcement of possible attendance), no ride
- no ‘see with’ light, no ride
- no knowledge of thread, general ‘intermediate levelness’ of TNRCs, etc., no ride
That kind of thing. Anyway, hope everyone lives and learns from it. I know I have.
- no list (or even vague on-thread announcement of possible attendance), no ride
And here are the 3 main guidelines for tonight:
**1. Steady rear LEDs rather than flashing, once it’s lighting up time, please.
Shouts of ‘car back!’ are only necessary if a driver is acting particularly impatiently, or you notice the peloton is riding more than 2-abreast. A message of ‘single up!’ will be passed back down the line from the front if deemed appropriate on certain stretches of road.
Freewheelers - please feather your brakes as necessary on the descents, to remain within the bunch.**
Thanks in advance :)
