  • I'm awaiting the photographs that followed awaiting the photographers...

    some pics

    :-D

really really enjoyed that ride too; The Chilterns features lovely scenery, especially the view of the White Horse Lion!
(thanks for correcting my gaze recollection BMMF!)

keeping pace on the hill climbs was challenging and amiss; thanks for relieving me of the rucksack for the second-half Chalfie!!

uploaded a pic of you in-training,

and here's my sight of the Three Musketeers through the woods..

Because I never seem to ride bikes for fun any more. 76" should be a'ight, a'ight?

  • Because I never seem to ride bikes for fun any more. 76" should be a'ight, a'ight?

be good to see yah :-)

will leave the gear inch q for the pros - but i'll be on 71 a'ight!

(despite that, still expecting to be sluggish uphill..!)

  • @TW2 - should be fine. I’ll be on 69.6” and setting a relaxed but steady pace. Average speed is only likely to be ~16mph. You’ll just need to be out of the saddle now and again. We’ll regroup at first junctions after tops of climbs anyway.

I’ll be happy to sort out a GS4 on my card again, but I won’t have any change to speak of, so have your ~£6 ready unless you’re the person sorting out the other GS4.

Who’s going to be official backstop/sweeper - Howrad or AirTime?

  • Did you ride it fixed in the end? After going to the trouble of getting drops put on the only other fixed rider I saw had bullhorns, nobody seemed to be checking bikes.

Yep no one checked bikes however I wasn't taking any chances after ur post then reading it in the information pack so opted to get fully lycra'd up on my road bike.

I saw no one fixed or single speed. I did see a guy cross the line with tri bars on though which made me laugh

Happy with whatever you decide you da boss and all that. However if howrad takes another ridiculously large bag then I think he would have pre-selected himself. That's a cross I wouldn't want to bear!

Also I'll bring you some dollah to cover the group save if u do opt to sort out tickets beforehand. Don't get used to the 75p tip tho haha

    :-)

i've got a lighter rucksack and a lighter bicycle, so was hoping to zoom about the Chilterns like a spinning top!

.. but as reality might be a little different (!), shall we see how we go once we're there AirTime? happy to do my duty as a backstop/sweeper at some stage..

    ps.

commute today with a road bicycle + drops + SPDs was slow, sweatless and stoppy (at every junction pretty much - aside from Margaret Street across Farringdon Road - which resembled - in miniature - Chinese junction crossing - cycling around cyclists, a beautiful moment!); deffo feel super-more comfortable commuting fixed + risers + straps (!)

  • Will join you... but beware - I will be in full roadie douche mode.

  • Not been on the Euston/Hemel line so no idea how crowded it gets - might be sensible if a GS4 jumped on the 19:04 to lessen the numbers on the 19:24. Any thoughts those who went out last week?

  • Might be a bedwetter, not recovered from the London 100 thingy, and something about my left leg doesn't feel right.

I'll make a late decision but I think we all know what is meant when someone says that.

Just a shame I won't be there to help celebrate BMMF's birthday.

  • It’ll probably be busy on both trains (people use their Oysters for off-peak fares as far as Watford after 7pm).

Strictly 2 bikes per doorway, including any non-TNRCers who are aboard.

Be prepared to get offandonagain in order to let people off at interim stops.

I suppose we could float the option of an early 19h04 GS4. Anyone particularly keen to get in the queue for tickets at 18h30 to that effect, with 3 companions? I can probably make it down there for that time if 3 others are definitely up for it...

  • I buy from you.
