I made up for it by squirting water at the big Ginger Tom who was on catflap watch stopping her from leaving this morning.

So this is gross and potentially alarming. Has anyone else’s cat had what appears to be a blocked nipple? Was giving Fleur a rare belly rub just now, noticed a lump. Gave it the gentlest squeeze and this thing immediately popped out. Appears to be a plug of puss about 12mm long? 🤢🤢
She seems no different and certainly wasn’t in any discomfort. Belly time is rare so hadn’t spotted it previously.

Indoor 5yr old spayed female, all clear at vets last month.
Will obvs be calling the vet first thing tomorrow for advice as well.

I’m not gonna smell it. Lizzie got a much smaller one just now from another nip. Can’t say I smelt it and didn’t intend to. It’s like something from Dr PimplePopper. It looks like a seriously large blackhead. There was no blood or other wet gunk when it came out.
She appears to be absolutely fine from what we can gather.
Calling the vet in the morning and she’ll go straight in if they want to check her out.

She’s having a nap now.

It is not.

Obviously a totally unqualified guess but I reckon mastitis is a thing for non humans.

Our cat is getting on well with the dog.

Have you kept it? This is me being serious, the vet might want to see it but they are usually very good at judging from photos.

Yes, we’ve kept it in a little jar to take with when she goes in.

As the area isn’t red and no lumps or other swelling that would suggest infection she’s going into the vet on Friday.
A lot of (grim) Googling suggests it’s blocked inverted nips full of what’s known in the trade as ‘nipple cheese’.
Some cats are also prone to massive blackheads on their belly’s. It’s probably nothing major but the can lead to other issues so she needs checking.

So the vet(not Fleurs normal one) didn’t seem too concerned about the gunk and said it was no different to what would come out of a blocked hair follicle. She gave her a good check on all her nips and got a tiny bit more gunk out the offending one. Have been given some kitty-specific antiseptic wipes and just need to ensure they’re clean and don’t go red.

As ever she did not like the drive over.
